what to wear to family reunion weekend

Help! I am going to my husband's family reunion, "CHOWDER FEST" over labor day weekend in Buffalo NY....What types of things should I pack for this? I am clueless when it comes to casual

Oh.. I'm not a big help either.. I have a good work wardrobe, but when it comes to casual, I'm not very good because I don't like to dress down.. I would pack a pair of dark blue jeans and another pair in white or black, flats or gladiators and some nice blouses like

I wore gladiators, a sundress and leggings to my last family reunion. It was perfect because during the hot weather, I just wore the sundress during the day, but in the evening I put on the leggings and a cardi when it cooled down.

How did I ever live without leggings? I've only had them for a month and they are hands down my most favorite item in my closet right now.

I hope this helps, in my opinion it was a step above shorts.

A sundress on its own would also be cute and a bit different.

How hot do you think it will be? I would think Labor Day in Buffalo could still be pretty warm. Probably fathenry's sundress suggestion is a good one, then. Another casual option could be clamdigger jeans and a Sweet Pea style top with interesting sandals.

I'd talk to your husband about the weather there, if he grew up there. If not, find out from his family what it'll likely be like over Labor Day weekend. If it's hot, here are my suggestions, and you can layer up to avoid the chill.

Ok. Casual...

clams or walking shorts
Jersey dresses, sun dresses, casual/flowy skirts, jean skirt
leggings (for under the dresses/skirts, like fathenry suggested. I wear leggings during the day too...it stops the chaffing when my thighs rub together )
jeans
cute sandals, flipflops (a YLF no-no, but they are casual), gladiators, or ballet flats...also converse
tunics (with leggings)
tank tops/tee shirts

I think you can look pulled-together even though you're in casual stuff. Hope that helped!
