What To Wear As A Sales Associate In Children's Shoes

Hi! I just got back into retail. I've just been hired by a major fashion store working in the kids' shoes department. I'm just over 50, and am terrified of looking too young like I'm trying too hard as well as looking dowdy like a grandmum. I'm a pretty pear and would like a stylish look to will allow me to bend and reach yet still look like a fashion confidant to help customer in the grown-up departments. I know I may be asking for much, but I don't want to wear anything that screams "Sales Associate". Any suggestions?

Dress for the parents (they have the credit cards) and your own comfort and confidence. I'd say you're right you'll be bending alot so I'd think knits are good. Ponte knits look professional in pants, dresses and skirts, midis would work well for you with simple not low cut tops. Nice polished tops like button downs and cashmere sweaters.

Comfortable shoes because you'll be moving a lot. And remember that you will be sitting on a short stool to fit the children's shoes so no short hemlines or low rises. If your store is anything like the one I work in, you'll need layers, because the AC is always very strong and it can get chilly. Really, anything business casual usually goes, as long as it's professional, polished, and you feel comfortable wearing it.

Some off-the-wall advice for what it's worth. The parents pay but the children don't always cooperate by agreeing the shoes are comfortable or desirable. I once read in a book analyzing styles that children and also adults react in a very friendly, trusting way to anything representational.
Like the new fashion of knits with animal heads. Florals would probably
be included here, too. Could be a flower pin or animal head pin or ring.
