Karie, your hair will style better if you don't wash it everyday, just rinse it in the shower and DON'T use any shampoo, maybe little conditioner. Towel dry it, toss it around with fingers only, no brushes and rub little paste into your palms and toss it into your hair. I really like Stucco paste by AG, it has nice matte finish and not heavy like some other stuff. That's should work for the lengths of hair I showed you, good luck!!!

Thanks Miisia! I have some texture paste that I've used in the past, I think it's by Scruples, but I will try what you've suggested.

I've never tried rinsing without shampooing. I think I'll have to use less hairspray for that to work.

Thanks for all your input!

I will echo what Misia says about the Stucco paste by AG. I looked long and hard for a good paste that wasn't heavy or too oily. I really like it. I look forward to seeing which way you decide to go!

Karie, try using NO hair spray and see what happens to your hair, you might enjoy the less stiff hairstyle

I think you'd look great with a pixie, even shorter than your short-hair photo! You've got the fine bone structure (and neck) to carry it off. Signed, inherited-my-English-family's-jowls...

I also love the shorter dos! But I guess I'm a bit biased now... My hair as it is now needs water every morning btw, but I don't always wash it either. Probably every second to third day and otherwise it's water only.

You remind me of Jodie Foster or Helen Hunt... Jodie had a great short cut... very similar to Lisa Rhinna's...

I like this color as well... especially for someone fair...

Sheila, I love Jodie Foster's cut. She looks great with longer bangs.

Shiny, I have had longer bangs in the past. A few years back I had an asymmetrical cut with one side bang longer than the other, and the back cut shorter.

Tex, I think my natural hair color is light gray. I was blond as a child but always have had a streak of gray in the back, underneath the top layer.

Thanks for you input, girlfriends - today's the day! I'm still not 100% sure of what I will do, I'll have to see how much time my hairdresser has. I am booked for a cut and color, and she's used to me walking in and saying, "Let's change things up a bit!"

Karie, as another pixie wearer, I'm looking forward to seeing what you and your hairdresser decide to do!

Re: the washing/rinsing only issue, the last time I got my hair cut the stylist gave me a sample of "co-wash." She claimed it removed product but not the hair's natural oils. (I haven't tried it yet myself. Need to put it in the bathroom to actually use it...)

That was an Aveda salon and product, but a little Googling found a bunch of other options, and this article about the practice: http://thebeautydepartment.com.....ditioners/

Of course, water alone is much cheaper but it might be worth a try.

Meant to add: I'm considering using it in the hopes it will clear pollen (etc.) out of my hair better than a plain rinse. Allergy season!

"Co-wash" sounds like a good idea. Great if it clears out pollen.

Well, it's go time. I'm waiting for my hairdresser now. She's all excited about changing things up!
