What Should My Next Hairstyle Be? EDIT: Added Misia's pixie cuts

Since everyone was such a big help when I picked out my eyeglasses, I thought I'd ask for hairstyle help. My hair is naturally wavy and sometimes I leave it that way (pic 2) and sometimes I straighten it (pic 3).

I'm going Friday evening and here are some ideas I've been kicking around. Some I could do now, and others I'd have to let my hair grow into.

What are your suggestions? I wasn't thinking of changing the color, but I'm open to all ideas.

These are all great styles, but I see you in 4, 6 & 7. I like the shorter styles with less volume these days! Exciting!

I think you would look great in 4. You may have to do a shorter variation of that style and then let it grow out some. I love the longer, inverted bobs with wavy hair.

Thanks everyone. I am mostly thinking of 4 or 8, but my hair isn't long enough in front for #4. Not sure how the longer in front 'do would look with my long oval face either.

Also, for the inverted bob, find out about your back hairline. I have a longer face, too, and my hairline in back is rather low. This means that bob styles have to be quite long in back to work on me (unless I want a wedge type cut up the back.)

I the longer in front might work if you have a bang or sidesweep that covers a good part of the forehead.

Runcarla, 6 is kind of close to what I have now, although I have shorter layers. Sometimes I flip it out like in the Meg Ryan photo, sometimes not. My hairdresser is always trying to get me to grow out my layers, maybe I should listen to her!

I can see you in something much shorter, razor cut with lots of layers. That's what I would suggest to my client anyway!

Misia, I actually love a cute pixie haircut, but I don't think I really have the facial features for it. My nose is pretty prominent, and a pixie cut really showcases that. The pic below is the shortest I've ever gone, and I'm not opposed to doing that again. I like the ones you've shown, especially the first with the darker under layer. I think that would be necessary to avoid having my hair look flat.

Maybe a color change is in order too?

I like the idea of darker overall but with highlights. More contrast and less overall blonde if that makes sense. To add depth. Maybe in the caramel range. Where's our resident hairdressers?!

abc, the pic below was actually the shortest it's ever been. And I had darker highlights then, too. Sorry for the goofy pic! I was faking shock at my super short hair.

Not sure that I want to go that short again or keep growing it longer.

Your features remind me of Annie Lennox, and she looks great in the super short pixie cut, or you can do little longer but keep the layers short on top, and that will loose that mushroom look what i call

My first thought was 8. But I also really, really like that short cut on you (the one with the shocked face). You could certainly wear that style, and it might be fun for summer.

I think it depends on your patience - if you can wait for it to grow out quite a bit then I do really like something like #8 for you. You've had it short before so you already know what that is like. If you don't want to wait then I agree that the short style you had looked really good -- of course you must have straightened it that day and if you're leaning towards wanting to go more natural and wavy, then I'd wait and grow it longer for the #8 goal.

Is your natural color quite a bit darker than it is now?

I vote for #8 -- you could totally rock that style, without any curling iron required. I would also love to see how you look in longer bangs -- have you ever worn longer bangs? Or does it end up being too much hair in front?

Okay now I've scrolled down to see your pixie cut - I *love* that on you!!

So I'd either go pixie like before, or grow it out and try something like #8.

You look great with the darker highlights too. This may be my bias, but I'd say if you go long, add in darker highlights (i.e., darken up slowly as your hair grows out). If you decide to chop to pixie length, I personally feel that needs a bolder statement so I am liking the blonder/lighter highlights. But that could just be me.

Thanks everyone! I added Misia's pixie cuts to the top with the other styles. So far I think it's a toss up between #8 and the pixie cuts, and I'd probably go with the pixie in #9, just a little longer. Perhaps with some dark underneath if my stylist has time to do all that.

I do like to let my hair go wavy, but it is a bit higher maintenance as it relaxes a lot after the first day and I have to re-wash and put more product in to avoid the frizzies.
