This will be a post that covers a wide variety of topics...
Photos 1 & 2:
This is a pre-YLF cardigan that I brought with me because it fit my wardrobe color scheme of gray and brown, but I'm not sure if it is a keeper past this winter. When I looked in the mirror, I thought it looked better belted. But when I saw the photos, I decided that it looked better unbelted so I wore it unbelted. You'll notice that I am wearing a lot of layers (two turtlenecks) and long underwear (which you can't see!). The reading room in the archives is quite chilly.

Before I went to work in the archives this afternoon, I went by the parliament building to observe a demonstration protesting tax hikes and other unpopular economic policies of the current government. I stood on the sidewalk for about 20 minutes but it was cold so I went on to the archives. When I came out of the building a few hours later, the street to the parliament building was blocked by riot police. Apparently the demonstration turned violent and was broken up with tear gas. Glad I missed that part.
But in case you've been wondering what the well-dressed riot police wears in eastern Europe -- here's a photo. Note that the three police officers carrying shields behind him are women.
Photo 4 & 5:
Several people have commented about the high ceilings in my apartment here. I am living in a lovely, recently remodeled apartment in a building built in the 1880s. It does have high ceilings and, in two rooms, beautiful cornices (I think that's what they are called). So a couple of photos of those!
