What I wore this week - YouLookFab Forum

This was kind of a busy week, so for the most part I wore tried-and-true pieces that I already knew worked well for me. (This wasn't an official "remixing challenge" like KristenKP or Legacy of Pearl have been doing, but more that when I'm too busy to think much about what to wear in the mornings, these are the pieces I ended up grabbing.) The days when I stand in front of the mirror agonizing that I have "nothing to wear" are becoming rarer, which is proof that my year documenting what I'm wearing and receiving a ton of help from all of you has helped quite a bit!

Sunday last weekend: Dark denim JAG bootcut jeans, white Carissa Rose "Carissa Shirt", gray Eddie Bauer cardigan, gunmetal Nicole heeled oxfords, bronze beaded necklace that was a hand-me-down from my aunt, brown braided belt from American Eagle

Monday: Cobalt ponte knit dress: Donna Morgan, brown semi-opaque DKNY tights under brown lace tights from Anthropologie, skinny black patent belt from Ann Taylor, blue and green printed scarf from Anthropologie, blue wire-wrapped earrings made by my aunt, Nicole heeled oxfords in "gunmetal"

Tuesday: Blue pencil skirt from Banana Republic, black mesh ruffled top with white polka dots INC from Macy's, thick black patent belt, black Oroblu microfishnet tights over gray opaque tights, winter blue Sofft Oriole pumps, faux-pearl necklace from Express, cream moto jacket from Ann Taylor

Wednesday: Boden sweaterdress, brown Spanx patterned tights, brown Clarks boots, bronze Ann Taylor necklace

Thursday: Chartreuse velveteen Boden skirt, teal Express button-down with bow, brown DKNY tights, brown Clarks boots, denim AX moto jacket

Friday: Dark JAG bootcut jeans, purple Express button-down shirt, gray Old Navy vest with black lace, silk flower that I bought in Victoria, gunmetal Nicole oxfords

Friday night Valentine's day date: JAG bootcut jeans, black polka-dot ruffle blouse by INC from Macy's, mustard Halogen courduroy blazer, bright red patent CL by Laundry pumps, faux-pearl necklace from Express

Love your Carissa Rose shirt with the gray cardigan on Sunday! I have those Jag jeans, I think it was you who inspired me to buy them.

Monday - you look amazing in your cobalt dress and it skims your curves in all the right places! The Anthro scarf is lovely with the dress.

Tuesday - Very pretty! Love the shoes and how you layered the tights.

Wednesday - Love the Boden dress on you!

Thurs - You look beautiful in the lush jewel tones of this outfit.

Friday - cute flower pin paired with the vest!

I liked the cobalt blue dress with the green scarf. Plus that dress fits you so nicely!
I haven't yet attempted to mix black and blue. You have a beautiful example of one. That outfit looks like something Angie would wear especially with the cream moto jacket.

The striped dress is so flattering on you! I like that green-fuschia-navy combo. I'm going to have to come up with an outfit with that color mix.

I shy away from non-neutral bottoms, but your teal with the green skirt outfit is wonderful! The bow tie blouse is fun and classic.

I like the lace detail on the vest. A white necklace would also be an option for the floral pin. Angie had a post about med blues go well with black and white.

Luv the black polka dot with the mustard blazer! The pop of red in the shoes goes so well!

So pretty! I love your fearlessness with mixing colors, particularly the teal and green of the Boden skirt and Express top.

And I agree, cheap shoes are not worth it. I am done buying shoes -- flats especially -- from Target or Payless.

Debora, how neat - I didn't realize that you got the JAG jeans as well! I love how they have enough stretch to feel comfortable, but don't bag. I actually was inspired to get them after seeing my mom wear them.

Thanks, Taylor! I'll bet that your similar polka-dot blouse was from AT, right? I actually have a b&w polka dot shirt from the Loft, but it's short-sleeved and I prefer it for warm weather.

AJ, I have been shy about mixing black and dark blue until very recently - I'm really glad that you liked the way it turned out. I feel like I'm channeling Angie a bit every time I wear black and white with pearls.

Kim, thank you - the funny thing is, when I grab pieces or outfits that are "simple" because I've tried something similar before, I don't feel like I've been that creative. That's a big confidence-booster to hear that there's more variety than I thought.

Kristen, thanks - I think back when I wasn't sure at all how to dress my figure, mixing colors was a way for me to do *something* that felt creative. It's fun and it makes me happy to find two bold colors that "click."

Kari, LOVE all outfits! You look incredible in the cobalt blue dress and every way you've styled it so far just rocks. My second fav outfit is anything with the chartreuse Boden skirt.
