What colour is this?

I took this picture myself so I hope it works... Exactly what shade of purple would you call this blouse ? The sort of lilac that needs to be paired with other pale shades, or a slightly richer shade that could look good with dark denim clams? My movie night outfit depends on your response.

I'd say it's right in the middle between lilac and purple. A dark lilac? I would probably pair it rather with lighter colors, but it is difficult to decide without seeing the whole look.

It is a gorgeous midtone that could go with lighter or darker for me. I think it would be beautiful with navy and dark denim or any shade of blue or teal.

I normally pair this white, but just don't feel like doing so tonight for some reason. I'm picturing wearing this with denim clams, gumball pearls and abby sandals/rose-gold bag. Hopefully those other elements will introduce enough lightness?

Back to say that it occurred to me that the color will look different depending on what color cami or tank you wear under it because it is very sheer. You could wear it over a light tone like nude, pale pink, or white; a midtone like grey, mid blue or mid pink; or over a dark like plum, navy, or black.

I think so, Michelle. That sounds like it would work well together. What do you wear under it? A dark top to get a column of color with the pants?

I just read your reply, Michelle. I doubt you need to lighten up much, although the outfit you describe sounds beautiful. The top is not dark, even if you wear it over a dark cami. There will still be enough skin showing and the sheer fabric to keep things light.

I agree with Joy. The colour, to my eye, is a beautiful mid-toned, amethyst purple. Wearing it with darker denim would create a darker outfit than when worn with white, but, because of the sheerness of the top and the cropped pants, would still look summery.

One of my favourite outfits for a summer evening in the city is a pair of slim black crops with a floaty, semi-sheer, sleeveless black tunic. I wear it with strappy black sandals, and, because of the lightness of the fabric and all the bare skin, have never felt the need to "lighten" it up. Your outfit, as you've described it, sounds perfect for a summer evening in the city.

So, uh, I owe you one, girls...
Until I saw your feedback I had 100% forgotten that this blouse was sheer!! I generally do wear it with a tank top in a tonal shade of purple, but for reasons I can't explain I can't find it at the moment (I'm positive I hung it on the hanger with the blouse, but it's not there)!! So here I was, rejoicing in the fact that I had a nude bra that was low enough to make the tanktop unnecessary, and forgetting that it, uh, was actually kind of essential.
