What can I do with this skirt?

A friend gave me this skirt, and I am trying to figure out how I could use it. I barely ever wear skirts, and it's a warmer color than I would normally wear, so I am not sure what colors I can combine it with. Here I am trying it with neutrals - black, white, brown, navy (the vest is navy, not sure if it works).

Also, does this length work for me or is it too long?

I like the color of this skirt. I can't really distinguish warm and cool colors but I'd say this color looks great on you.
The skirt is a bit voluminous so it might work better slightly shorter.
As for styling I like outfits #1 and #4. The jacket in the third picture is too voluminous imo. The second outfit could use some wooden chunky bracelets and a belt.

Like the way you mixed the colors - especially the short cardi pic (#3?) though.

Marianne, I also like outfits no.1 and no.4. I think it needs more visual interest, and layering adds that extra punch. I'm not good judging length, I hope others chime in.

I think a shorter length might be more flattering but if you like it this length, it could work if you show more skin up top? Maybe a lower cut blouse/shirt? I like the white sweater because the short sleeves show off your arms.

I actually like all the ways you have worn it (with the exception of number two...it's just a little flat for me). I think you could do with a couple of inches off the overall length. That will make it flare out a little bit less as well. It looks like it could be a sweet casual skirt though.

The skirt is such a pretty color, and even though it is warmer than you normally might wear, I think it works with your skin tone because it is a saturated color, which you can carry off very well.

I agree with the other comments --
- shorten the skirt; the flare looks a little big
- Look #3 doesn't work for me; I think because of the cut and color of the jacket
- I love the vest! Navy and coral is a great combo
- Look #2 would look nice with some long necklaces
- Love the cardi!

I really like the color, Marianne. I looked at the pictures before I read the comments, and I also liked #1 and 4 best - the layering seemed to balance out the length of the skirt better than #2 (I don't like the proportions of the skirt quite as much with the shorter top) and #3 (I think it would work better with a more cropped jacket.) #1 is definitely my favorite, though - the navy vest looks SO cute with this!

Oh! Very pretty WARM coloured skirt and it totally works – especially if you hack a few inches off the hem and possibly have it straightened out a little at the side seam. The first outfit is great and I LOVE the jacket. What does it look like buttoned ?

Angie, I am glad you like the jacket. It's very fitted, but it has a peplum detail in the back which makes it flare below the waist, and I usually wear it unbuttoned because of that.

I love the skirt on you, the color can be either warm or cool. I agree about the first and fourth being the best looks. You can wear all skirt styles with your figure!!
Navy vest is fab with the skirt. I do not know about the length. I am so careful with money I have to love something to get it altered because of the expense.I do not think the length is bad. It is probably because I thrift so much, hemming usually costs more than the item.

The alterations Angie's suggesting, is exactly what I had in mind. It's a lovely skirt in a great colour.
If it get's a little chilly in the evening, throw on a denim jacket, that will look great too.

Also: what a beautiful cardigan in that last picture!
