Wedding guest - outfit help please

Hi everyone,
I'm sure that last time I posted on the forum I was also asking for help with this very same question. Same anxiety - different wedding! I have read through Angie's wedding wear posts and I have (I think) narrowed my choices down to two. Unfortunately I feel they both have issues so I thought I would post it out to all you fashion gurus.

The wedding dress code was described as "Lounge suit". It is an Autumn (Fall) wedding in Melbourne, Australia. I think it will be quite a classy evening.

The first dress is something I've had in my cupboard for so long that I'd forgotten about it. I like the length, but I'm a bit worried about the low-cut top.

The second dress is new (haven't bought it yet). I'm a bit worried it's too short, so in this pic I put patterned stockings underneath it just to see if I felt a bit more comfortable in it. My husband likes this the best. Is it too black for a wedding? Sorry about the tag in the last photo. I just wanted to show the lace feature back.

Please choose a fave, but also let me know if they're both entirely unsuitable and I'll have a hunt for something else.

Amy if it's an evening receiption and its to be quite dressy then I think the black dress is the most suitable. The first dress is very pretty but it reads to me as more suitable for a garden or daytime wedding.

I like the second dress best. You might save the first dress by an easy alteration of having the top pulled up an inch or so at the shoulders. I have to have this done with just about every dress. Just grab the fabric at the shoulder and pull it up to see what you think.

Both lovely dresses, but yes, possibly the black is better suited to an evening do.

I'm confused by the term "lounge suit". Is that lounge the noun or lounge the verb? It must be lounge the noun if you think it's a dressy affair!

I'm not sure, I don't really like either. The first seems dated. The second also seems dated from the front and too showy in the back. Are there any other options if you are shopping new?

You have not bought the black dress yet, correct? I think you can do much better, the combination of ruffles, lace and front and exposed back reads too much going on for me. I think you will look much more beautiful in something more streamlined and exquisite.

I like #1 but it might be best suited for a daytime event.

Can you do more shopping or are you pressed for time?

Firstly thanks everyone for all of your comments. I have got another two dresses (neither of which I've bought yet) to try. I live in a very small country town, so there aren't many up-to-the-minute fashion offerings unfortunately. Not sure if I want to do a trip to the nearest 'big town' with my two year old tomorrow.

The first is problematic because the top is just t-shirt type material, so it puckers at the back. My eye is also not a fan of the exposed zipper, but maybe that's just my perspective.

The second dress is very fitted and I'm not sure about keeping my post-baby tummy under control all night.

Any advice/comments on these extra outfits is much appreciated.
