Violet - Outfits Week of 2/8/09

Here are some of my outfits from last week. Any comments/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance!

A few notes...

1. I'm not crazy about Sunday's picture, but I posted it anyway. I think the sweater is a bit too short for jeans. I was thinking it would look better with a longer layer underneath. I would like to get better at using interesting shirts for layering instead of the standard white cami.

2. I tried using a scarf as a belt with Monday's outfit. Does it work? I feel that the cardi may be a bit to big.

3. On Wednesday it was very rainy, so I wore my new Kamik weatherproof boots in the car and then planned to change into my nicer boots once I got into my office building. Luckily the rain stopped, so I just changed boots in the car.

You look amazing outfits! I like all the outfits, particularly Monday ( scarf as a belt withocoral cardi is killer) and Wednesday. The printed wellies are fun. I agree That the blue sweater might be a tad too short for pants, so i would let the bottom layer ( cami, shirt etc) to peak under to make up for it.

great to see your outfits! is that pink cardi from gap? if so, i have the same one! naturally, in pink.

i agree the blue sweater is a tad short - could you wear it with skirts instead?

i love how you incorporate scarves into your outfits! whether around your waist or around your neck, they definitely amp up your look!

You are right about the blue cardi, it would look better with a longer layer underneath if you want to wear it with pants.
Scarf-as-belt look never works for me but you pull it off well.

I especially love Tuesday and Wednesday's outfits. You look super in that length of skirts and boots. I also agree with shell - great use of scarves! I'll have to break mine out more often.

The scarf idea was a great one, and I LOVE Tuesday's outfit. Something about the neckline, the color and the necklace which just made you glow! The wellies and the denim skirt were adorable!

Hi Violet, You look fab! I love your blue purse! The denim skirt is perfect! I thought the pink cardi looked a little big, but I thought it was meant to be that way--the scarf sizes it down. I wonder how the scarf would look knotted so nothing was hanging or hanging off to the side a little bit (instead of dead center)?

You have gorgeous eyes and I love your hair with the sideswept bangs!

Your wellies are KILLER. Love them! You look particularly good in a skirt and I hope you wear them more often, Violet. Do you enjoy wearing skirts?

I'd advise against the scarf belted affect. Somehow it’s making you look wider than you are. Does that sound off to you and am I the only one that thinks so? I’m used to Violet’s precious little hourglass figure which does not come through in that outfit.

Hands down my favorite is the denim skirt outfit. The scarf makes it and the wellies are awesome! (I'm just trying to use a different word than killer for variety.) I think you could just wear them on casual days. I agree with Angie about the scarf belt but it is an interesting idea.

I love Sunday, it's simple and elegant, and the colour of that sweater makes the day;-) You look gorgeous in that blue!
(and I agree, it's probably a skirt length sweater).

The scarf on Monday is beautiful, but I think I agree with Angie and Patience about it not accentuating your hourglass figure. But definitely wear it again with that cardi.

Tuesday was a great day too. Skirts suit you so well, and I love the added texture of your sweater (beautiful colour on you again!).

That blue bag makes me smile, the wellies are fabulous, and scarves are your best friends;-)

Thank you all for the feedback and comments! Sorry I didn't get a chance to respond sooner. I have been swamped with work.

I will keep the blue sweater from Sunday for use with skirts unless I find a longer cami to wear it with pants.

Shell - yep, the sweater from Monday is from The Gap!

Also, regarding the sweater - I thought that it did make me look a bit bigger than normal, but I wasn't sure if I was just being too critical. I appreciate the honest feedback on that. I bought it in a medium and actually tried to shrink it on purpose but it still felt a bit too big. I will probably move that to the donate pile.

Angie - I do love wearing skirts and dresses. I wear them all the time in the summer. I would probably wear them more even in the winter, but I do not have a heavy winter coat that is the right length. I saw the blog post today regarding winter items being on sale, and I think finding the right length coat would be a good item to look for now.

Also, thanks for the positive comments on the boots. I actually won't mind if it snows a little bit more b/c that means I will get to wear them more.

You do look fab in skirts, Violet! Tuesday and Wednesday are my favorite outfits on you. Sunday's sweater would be better with skirts, as others have already mentioned. Also, it's probably just me, but I'd pair it with bottoms of a color other than blue, such as light grey, cream, etc. to bring in more contrast. I love your use of scarves. Although I agree with Angie's point about the scarf with the coral sweater, that scarf was a perfect accent color-wise.

Violet, I do not think Sunday's sweater is too short at all. It makes your legs look really long. If you had a longer layer underneath it would cut your leg line. I think this cami is perfect for the sweater and the outfit. Completely love the width of the pants and the wash. Fab shoes, too.

Monday's outfit is so chic for work. I really like what you did with the scarf. It's in the perfect position and covers the fact that the sweater is a bit big. I didn't even notice till you pointed it out. In the close-up it looks a little busy with the cami detail and the pattern of the scarf, but if you have a plain cami (Sunday's white one?) I think it would be supreme.

Loved the wellies and the boots both for Wednesday. You look so put together!
