I have not seen this coat MrsK but I have the vince coat below. My coat can be left open to have the same kind of collar design or there is a hidden snap to make a funnel neck. The material of my coat is double face wool, which is probably what you have up above. It's good for mild cold/fall/transitional and cold/mild spring weather . Be aware that there are issues with layering. The wool does not "slide" like a good lining would. Since I wear a lot of blazers and knits that can may entry a bit more fussy. Also Vince tends to cut his arm holes high and sleeves narrow, which is very elegant on but if you like to layer can be challenging. OTOH, I will tell you that I love my coat. Although it has less seasonal usefulness in the heart of winter, I love it's elegance and comfort and always feel great when I wear it. But for me it's a transitional piece but since I will have it forever, I'm not upset by that. If you love it I would try it on with real life outfits and see how it works for you.
