I used to love department stores because there were so many options, so much to look at and try on and touch and etcetera. However, as my lifestyle has shifted to a very rural one, and my personal aesthetic has shifted more and more RATE (to the point where it's actually rather fringe many days), I find myself looking to traditional department stores much less. I've fallen in love with yoox, and with Etsy, and both have stayed relatively outside the current sociopolitical fray so I haven't had to think much about politics when I shop for clothes. I guess my weirdness comes with a bit of privilege, which I had never seen before; I usually see it as a curse that makes it hard to find garments I like at mass retailers.
