Trying a new online store: Boden

I'm considering getting a jacket and a couple of skirts from Boden (www.bodenusa.com). Boden is offering free shipping and free returns :) Has anyone tried this store? Any advice on size quirks, quality, etc.?

I have a love-hate relationship with Boden. Their clothes are adorable and well made, but I do feel it's slightly on the larger side, and since I wear the smallest size available, I can't just return it for a size down. I'm not even THAT small, so I assume their sizes run on the generous side.

My other problem is that their "regular" length is too long, but I'm used to that as a petite.

But whatever I got that actually did fit ended up fitting really well and has a secure place in my closet. I'd put them on equal footing with Banana Republic as far as quality and style go.

I noticed the sizes only go down to 8...I thought that was a little odd...?

This is a UK store, so the sizes are British. A UK size 8 is about a US size 4. I love the way they show their clothes in their catalogue and their fit certainly works for some body types. It’s a pretty roomy fit and won’t work if you’re petite are small framed.

Ooooh I will have to check them out them! I'm neither petite nor small framed. What would the equivalent be for an American size 10?

I usually teeter between sizes 6-8, from their size chart (bust, waist and hip measurements) - I'm turning out to be a UK size 12. Does that sound right? Like Nicole, i'm neither small framed nor petite, and with BR quality - I'm ready to take Boden out for a spin. Thanks ladies!

You are probably looking at a UK size 14 Nicole, but check Boden’s size specifications on-line first. From what I’ve seen, their merchandise is quite roomy. A size 8 in the UK can mean anything from a US size 0 to 4 because sizes in America have gotten bigger over time.

Echoing what Angie said, I struggle to fill out an 8 at Boden, but at French Connection, an 8 fits me like a glove. Sometimes I even have to go up to a UK 10. There's no clear-cut conversion method. Size charts are probably the best way to go.

To the OP, if you're a 6-8 and Boden says you're a 12, that sounds pretty accurate. Give it a try. If it doesn't work out, no big deal--shipping is free!

Oh! I forgot to mention: They provide the measurements for most of their garments. If you click on an item, there's a link below the description that says body measurements, and another that says garment measurements. They even do this for shoes. I wish more stores did this! Of course I bought a whole bunch of stuff hoping it would fit regardless of the measurements, but I'm irrational about clothes...
