trina turk jacket, new black dressy trench?

I picked this up at Nordstrom rack. I am not at all sure it is a good cut for me or if it will be versatile in years to come. the color is great, any thoughts? I do not want to keep if it is not a 10 (even if it is designer.)

This trench, I know is black but I love the cut and collar. I am in need of a trench that is water resistant and can be dressed up. I use black with my neutrals often and have other colorful coats.

Jean, I LOVE the trench. Keep!

I do not prefer the short jacket as shown because of its boxiness, but what if you tried it with something more form-fitting on the bottom? The jumper has some volume, and as YLF students we know that "volume over volume doesn't work." But how would it be with a form fitting top and slim jeans on the bottom?

Jean, I think the TT jacket is great. The styling is simple lines, great color for you, and you will bless those sleeves in years to come if you get the dreaded upper arm skin droop. It's perfect for warm weather over a sleeveless sheath dress.
Everyone needs a black trench, in Boston especially I'd think. You are tall and slim enough that double breasted coats were made for you, and the collar frames your face beautifully.

Jean, I like the TT jacket but you may find the shape a little limiting. The color is great for you! I think since you don't black rut, a black trench that you love is perfectly acceptable! Love the collar!

Thumbs up on the black trench! The TT jacket, the color is divine but I'm not quite sure about the cut (the boxiness, for one)--and for that reason, I wouldn't give it a 10. I think you can find a better one!

OK maybe I'm the odd one out but I LOVE the TT jacket *because* of the boxiness. I'm not sure if I like the layering of this particular outfit, but I think the rigid angles and boxiness of the jacket would look great contrasted with something floatier and softer.

The trench is killer. Love the exaggerated collar.
