Tried on a few things today

While the kids were napping, I took off to our local Cato's to try on a few things. I know it's not high fashion, but oh well...it's what we have locally!

I didn't buy anything, just wanted to try on some things I wouldn't ordinarily try on...what do you think?

You found some good things. I love the white, brown, and swirly blue patterned blouse. The only one I didn't care for was the blue striped with the ribbon tie.
I really love the white one on you.
I like the dark wash straight leg jeans the best.

I like the first pair of jeans. How do you feel about the patch pockets? I find I get tops hung on these type of pockets. The trousers are cute. Where did they feel too small?

Of the shirts, my favorite is the polka dot shirt. The sleeveless and the white shirt work well too. I'm not sure about the blue striped shirt. Looks like you had a good shopping trip

Seems like I'm often agreeing with Dani. We must have similar taste. I was going to comment about the patch pockets, too. However I would say that I think the trousers are a little small because of the whiskering on the hips. On the tops, I'm back to agreeing with Dani.

I like the straight-legged jeans on you, but like Dani, I'm not sure about the back pockets.

I love the white shirt with the belt. It looks so crisp and clean.
The sleeveless top in the last picture looks great too.

MVM - these are awesome. Good for you for maximizing nap time with shopping time. I love the jeans on you though yes, if they're whiskering you probably need a bigger size. Love the shirts except for the blue ribbon on the striped shirt. The last top is nice - however, it's shorter length seems more appropriate for skirts than jeans. Way to go!

Hey! OK---I liked the first jeans. The second ones were good, but a tad too snug based on the pulling in the lower abdomen, upper thigh area. BUT---I did not like the faded thighs. I think that's a very young and quite sloppy look best left to young sloppy people.

I liked all three tops, except the striped one. I did not like the sleeve and the pattern was a little dizzying. But I loved loved LOVED the last top! My order of preference would be 1. the last top. 2. The first top and 3. the second top--white with the belt.

I never heard of Cato...do they sell their own line (like Gap?) or do they sell major brands?

Here's their website. Honestly, I don't know if they are selling their brand of clothing or something else. I'd never heard of any of the brands in there. It's not exactly high quality clothing I don't think. But they have some cute trendy stuff in there. But locally, all we have are Peebles(I'll be checking there next!), Cato, Walmart and Kmart.

Thanks for the replies everyone! As for the patch pockets. You know, on most of my more "casual" pants I actually prefer this type of pocket. I think they look better on me. BUT for when I'm dressing a little dressier, I go for a flat pocket.

I loved the sating brown polka-dot top. Definitely going back to get it. The white shirt looked cute, but it just didn't "feel" good on. I liked the sleeveless top a lot, but felt when I looked in the mirror that I looked particularly "busty", but I may rethink it and get it too. It was really comfy and I liked the print a lot. Yeah, the blue stripe looked really weird on. I felt extra rectangular-ly(?) in it.

As for the jeans, I think I may go back and get the first pair. They were only $20 and really fit great. Definitely pass on the 2nd pair. Just too tight!

I was nervous to post these pics! I knew that some I liked and some I didn't, but was afraid you all were going to hate them and think that I'm a lost cause! LOL!

No way are you a lost cause. You are right on top of your game. I'm proud of the work you've been doing here. It's a lot of thinking and trying things. It's a big effort.
I myself am falling into a bit of a slump on whether it s all worth it, so I need to slap myself and get back an attitude of having fun with it.

I really liked the first pair of jeans too. Nice fit. I think of the tops, I was partial to the white with the black skinny belt first, and my second favorite on you was the dotted brown.

Ah Brandy! You did well and are the furthest thing from a lost cause. Here's my 2 cents:

o Straight leg jeans look pretty good. Are they too big? They look like they might grow. Back pockets like that tend to look bulky under tops and you have a fab little bottom so show it off sans the pockets.
o Trouser jeans are too tight
o Brown spot blouse and white shirt look fantastic!
o Sleeveless empire looks great too

Well done! Now go buy some of those goodies cause you look fab

San, you have done SO well too. Please do not give up.

I agree with everyone above, I like the straight leg jeans and the trouser pair is a bit too tight. I love all the tops other than the blue striped one. The brown one is my favorite.
