Too waist surrendering/proportion problem or JFE?

I've come to rely so much on the semi-tuck that I've been neglecting my tops that don't lend themselves well to tucking. What are your thoughts on this outfit? Should I go for it or find a different top?

I think it's very pretty and a good example of JFE! The echo between top and the light strappy sandals is beautiful, and I think the asymmetrical hem on the skirt adds structure to the look by showing a little more leg.

I run into this same question! I usually try tucking just a little bit of it and then it invariably comes untucked within the hour and I just live with it.

I think because the skirt here narrows at the bottom it works with an untucked slightly longer top in much the same way as it would over a tube skirt or skinnies. My eye has a harder time with this when the skirt is A-line for example.

Not too waist surrendering at all! The asymmetric hem of the skirt is throwing me, but I think that's just a personal bias of mine. I love the top and sandals together. YLF!

Thanks, ladies! I ran into another issue with this top. I don't know why, because I don't remember it being uncomfortable before, but the little metallic thread "dots" are scratchy on my arms. I swear my skin is getting more sensitive -- this is the second time in recent weeks that I've put on a shirt that never used to bother me, only to take it off a half-hour later. I'm bummed because I do like that top.

I am wearing option B. a floral silk top that *does* semi-tuck! It has enough white in it to work with the gladiators. I'll post pics in a separate thread.

I always have trouble with this too. I find that waist surrendering tops look best with tube or slim fitting skirts such as the one you're wearing.

I love the hemline of your skirt, and the top bookends perfectly with your shoes.

To my eye the top is too long for the skirt because it's VERY high contrast. Not bad though.

I like the top, Janet, but something about it is not catching my eye "right." (How's that for ungrammatical?) I don't think it's about being JFE; I think it's not "Janet" enough for me. I'd like to see it with something edgier, even if that's a pair of faded, perhaps destroyed jeans. 'Course this could all be moot if it's too scratchy to wear.

Nodding along with Angie and Beth. I felt like the top was too long -- I think last year I wore it with pants. I think the scratchiness is the deal-breaker though. I may have to let it go.

If the fabric bugs you only on the sleeves, you could cut them off. A mesh knit won't ravel, and it looks like the hem is already a raw edge, right?

I just replied to your other thread, but had to take a look here. I agree with the general consensus that the top is a tad long, but what a shame about the scratchiness, as I could see it work really well in other combos.

I kind of want it over jeans - I feel like it's too long for a skirt, especially one with a front hem detail like that one. Too bad it's not that comfy to wear anymore, because the color is nice on you.

Yup, a hair too long. I have a top like this...(I mean in length) -- and I finally realized I need to semi-tuck it to love it!! Even though, techically, it seems to have been designed to wear "out" on me it looks better partially tucked. I don't know if it's possible with this one?
