Tie front dress - YouLookFab Forum

I don't have much in the way of tie front tops but do have a couple of tie front dresses. This one is silk and bought because the colors went well with my EF bone. I intended to wear it as a tunic over bone skinny pants but need a dress for a tea today and wanted to give it an outing. The tie is very narrow and string-like.
The topper is an EF button-down dress. I do not have ideal footwear for this outfit. In the first photos are white/bone patent kitten sling back heels (1/2). the photo (3) shows my EF ankle strap flats. Which ones? I need a pale grey dressy flat.
Also, which necklace? Pearls or pendant or something else? With the topper I felt I needed a filler.
I welcome your thoughts and suggestions. Maybe this dress is too short and should only be a tunic? Bad style for someone without a waist?

I love it, Joy. I like it better with the pendant, but the pearls are dressier, for when that's what you're going for. I think it'll be great over pants, but it's not too short to wear alone, at all.

I ordered an EF shell in bone to try, and was surprised by how flattering of a color it was. I didn't really expect the shade to work on me at all, but it did (though I'm not keeping it for other reasons).

Jenn, I was surprised also at how flattering that EF bone color is. It must do well as they repeat it. I like it mixed with optic white, ivory, or pearl grey. I wish they would come out with some great bone flats that are not sandals.

I love the way you styled it in the first photo. Elegant and classic! It also goes well with the darker shoes for a more casual look. This combination of colors and tones is beautiful.

All options seem to work well, just to very different effects! Pearls w sling backs (sleek) vs pendant with ankle straps (relaxed).

Seems fine flattery-wise. I'd never thought of you as "someone without a waist." I'd also imagined you as about 5'7" until recently reading a post in which you referred to yourself as somewhat shorter than that.

The outfit is a little more ladylike than your usual posts and I'm really impressed because while you always look great this looks like you but also perfectly tea party. You look lovely.

I wore the version in #1 and it worked out well except that most women wore hats or fascinators. There was a fashion show but everything ( even jeans had lots of bling. Have you ever seen rhinestones on the cuffs of denim capries? Lots of cold shoulder tops with bling on top of bling.

Minimalist, I wish I were 5'7", but I am 5'3" after losing an inch in the past couple of years. Still most petite sizes do not fit.

I think it is great! I prefer it with the pendant.
I like both shoes.
The length is perfect!
I would team the pearl necklace with a vibrant top.
For the symphony, I think it would look nice with a long jacket.

I like it with the pearls - the longer pendant is coming a little too close to the string tie belt. Can you wear it without the belt? The dress is prettiest with the bow front sling-backs, to my eye.

Thank you, Smittie and Lisa. I can try the pendant on a shorter chain. Smittie, I like your symphony idea. Lisa, there is a bit of elastic at the waist. I will look more carefully at it, but it is not just a belt tied over a loose dress

Thank you, Carla. I have other options of darker shoes that could be considered, including silver/pewter metallics. Because there is black in the print of the dress, that may be another option with a black topper or bag

I like it with the pearls, without the sweater, and would even try to put a sash sort of belt over the elastic one as an experiment. But terrific as is.

LOVED IT, as always Joy. I like both options of footwear and necklaces, but my favorite combination was with the Pearl necklace and the slingbacks. As Angie said, KILLER!
