Throwing in the (cognac coloured) towel..!

You all saw the cognac booties I ordered in this thread : http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....e-showdown

and during the thread I had spotted another pair of booties too and ordered those as well. Well all 5 pairs are going back! The 5th pair arrived today and they are too narrow and too short. They don't have a half sizes either so trying a bit bigger won't be an option. But... do you know what? I tried the boots on with skirts as I would like the option of wearing the booties that way and... I just didn't feel like me. I need a slight bit more feminine-ness to the style, not sure in what way exactly though, and I also think a touch more heel height. So for now I'm stopping looking for cognac booties as I think what I'm after possibly doesn't even exist!. Oh well, think of the money I saved!

I can understand what you mean about the style with skirts. I can envision a little more heel and tapered ankle on you, for wearing with skirts.

Ah, I feel a challenge coming on. Who knows? You may stumble across just what you need in Seattle! We'll definitely keep an eye out.

I hear you on the skirt + footwear thing. I just cannot wear regular oxfords much with skirts--I have one pair that work with opaque tights so will focus on that pair. Booties I love the look on others but have trouble making those work, even with tights--flower-pot thing is part, but also is leg line.
My current idea is that I would be happier with a heeled shootie or heeled loafer because both have lower vamps, though the age-old problem is I can't go above 2" on heel, and 1.5" would be better, and need chunky heel. My perfect skirt bootie is probably out there somewhere, though.
Booties are still my new love to wear with pants, though, and are almost easier to get in slightly refined look because the boot stabilizes the heel or slightly tapered toe and can be more roomy/comfy.

Unfrumped, it's so tricky isn't it? I have some Pikolinos booties that shape down at the front, so elongates the legline and I love them with skirts. They could do with being a tad lower though, so I'm getting them to the cobblers soon.

Yes, that's the type I mean, and yes, the "nicer looking" ones have too high a heel for me.

I know several people have had the heels taken down a bit--I had never thought of that before and am a bit leery of buying new and cobbler-izing and then trying to see if are still comfortable. Hmm, I wonder if it might be something I could do with shoes I found at a good discount?

Stay tuned Unfrumped as my Pikolinos and my black Fidji boots (same as Angie has) are at the cobblers as we speak. I'll be picking them up in the morning. I'm only having a whisker taken off the heels (1/4") but I think it'll make a difference.
