Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Thoughts on v-neck sweaters?

It looks like it's going to cool down, so I went through my fall-winter clothes, and there are a few simple v-neck sweaters. I know they are not YLF garments of choice, but they are in great shape and I was wondering what I can do to spruce them up. Last winter I wore them with ruffled blouses, which I think helps. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Marianne,
Last year I spruced up some of my v-necks with flower pins and colorful camis underneath the sweaters. Long or layered necklaces might be fun as well. Long necklaces with ribbon ties (like J Crew has been showing recently) could look nice also.

Having a dumb moment! what's the matter with v neck sweaters? x

Nice suggestions from, Dani.

Louise, they *can* look really masculine, or like my old school uniform – but not always, and certainly not spruced up.

Marianne, try scarves which I know you wear! Over button downs? Pop them over skirts?

Btw, Laura65 wants to see a picture of the KILLER outfit you wire when we had tea last week. Bring it on :0)

I like very slim cut deep v-neck sweaters.

Loulou, I think Angie has said in the past that they can sometimes look masculine, which I think can be true if you aren't very picky with cut and fabrication.

I wore one of mine over a buttondown with a same-colored belt and really liked it. Unfortunately the belt was driving me crazy and I had to take it off, and the outfit really flopped without it. But it could totally work for you, and anyone else with space for a waist.

I honestly don't get as much use out of my v-neck sweaters as I thought I would. I wish I knew the answer.

Thanks for the ideas! I'll play with them and might post some pictures if I get nowhere. The sweaters themselves are fine, but with standard button downs they look kind of blah - if I don't add anything else.
Maya, I tried belts last winter, but I don't have much of a waist or space for it, either. So I know what you mean!
Aw, Angie, thank you! I'll probably wear a version of that outfit for tomorrow's (casual) dinner and will post a picture.
