This color on me, yay or nay? (ochre scarf)

As you know, I have a thing for scarves...

This one really caught my eye, and I thought it would be an attractive pairing with some of the deep red tops I have bought lately as well as charcoal or dark blue. I also like the little hit of bright white on the scarf that adds some life. I have never worn this color and was uncertain about it. I am guessing it is not one of my best colors, but do you think I need to stay away?

As a side note, DH was working from home one day and felt a little scratchy in his throat so he went looking for a scarf. He found one of my scarves (interestingly a dark purple plaid with shots of fuchsia through it), and he liked it so much he is trying to appropriate it. Never thought I would have to be defending my things from him :o)

To be honest, I don't love the style of scarf (the white mark are letters?), but I don't think the colors look wrong on you, so if YOU like it, I'd keep it!

From what I can see this is a very good color on you! I have a similar coloring as you, and as long I choose the more saturated versions of ochre/mustard yellows, they look good on me.

I really like this color on you and think the ideas you have for pairings sound great! Too funny about husband...I think I would fall over if my husband ever took one of my scarves. I keep threatening to knit him a tie just to see his reaction!

I looks fine enough in the picture. If you want to be sure, snap some close-ups and then look at them on your computer and see if you have noticeable dark circles under your eyes or skin imperfections. That's what a *bad* color does. Take some control pics with a color you're sure looks good on you for comparison. Your hair is looking extra pretty! Good to see you.

It looks fine to me. And anybody who loves scarves is a friend of mine.

Claire, thanks a lot for those pointers. I've often wondered about how much we can trust colour evaluations in a photo, seeing as the colours often aren't true. Now I know...

Suz, there are always new things to learn in marriage, eh? I kept trying to buy him a similar one yesterday but he insists he just wants mine.

Claire, that is an interesting tip. I actually feel like the photo looks better than real life, but on the other hand in the weird lighting of most stores it is so hard to judge color accurately.

Thanks for all the votes. So far it seems the line is falling somewhere between tepid and enthusiastic.

Though I admit I am biased toward yellow (it's my favorite colour!), I think that scarf is lovely. It goes great with your hair colour.

Are you wearing make up in this photo? The scarf goes very well with the skin tone of your face, but not as well with the inside of your arms. Of course, you are wearing it closest to your face and, really, people don't often examine the underside of our arms!

I also really like how the scarf falls as you have wrapped it.
