I have an appointment on Friday to get my tattoo updated. I originally got my first tattoo in 1985 when I was 31. It was a rose bud that was visible just above my bikini on my hip. When I was 40 I had it updated into a half open rose. It represented that time in my live. Then when I was 50 I it became a fully open rose. At that time in my life I felt that was where I was both physically and emotionally. All of these tattoos were done by the same artist and luckily, he is still doing work. I will see him on Friday. This iteration I want all stages represented in my tattoo. I have rough sketches of my vision and am looking forward to what he comes up with. I will keep you posted. Attached is a photo as the rose as it currently 'is'. I regret not taking photos of its earlier versions but no crying over spilt milk..

Joy, it will show dropped petals. I am there in my life and am proud I made it this far.

Good for you, Deb. A Full blown rose is the most fragrant. I thought you meant that you were doing a bouquet with roses in various stages.

I do want 4 roses in the various stages I had. Not sure is you mean that as a bouquet. But if so, why not dropping petals?

What a beautiful tattoo story, Deb, I love the fact that you have used the same artist over the years. Interesting to see the different reactions in the thread above. When I first read this, I hoped your new tattoo *would* include dropped petals. I'm at the stage in my life where I've consciously dropped/discarded baggage and I love the idea of finding symbolic ways of showing that.

I went to my appointment yesterday and discussed my desires. Bill, the artist, is working on the sketch and should have it done in a couple of weeks. We will talk modifications and approval then. I have an appoint for the end of August to have the actual work done. I was lucky to get in them due to a cancellation otherwise it would be seven or eight months. He is that booked out. I will keep you updated.

What a beautiful idea. I love how the artwork has grown and flowered with you. And I like the shedding of petals: it's the price of moving on.

I'm contemplating some more ink myself, something big this time. Following this with interest!
