So I Finally have a free moment to post about my experience since having my colors done last week. First I will tell you about my hair, and then, my closet.

This is the first phase of my hair color change. My hairdresser did a good job of trying to follow the instructions that were given. It turned out a bit darker than we wanted. No problem. That's an advantage of short hair. I'm only 3 weeks away from my next cut and color. Change is forever possible! Next time we plan to lighten it so the bulk of the color is closer to the highlight color. I will probably need highlights again in addition to that, but we'll see. I may end up needing low lights. In any case. I know this is the correct direction. I have already been receiving unsolicited compliments and a few people have told me I look younger. (Even with the awful viral repiratory infection I have!)

I did a closet evaluation using my new light summer color swatches. That was a bit overwhelming. I have very few exact matches. Kerry Stitch from Indigo tones was clear that exact matching was what I needed to do, not blending, which is what I have learned about using swatch books in the past. I have 2 long sleeve pullovers, 1 long sleeve cardigan, most of what I call my ivory blouses, but not all because some of them skew too warm, three pencil skirts, two dresses, and of course my blue jeans, three scarves and some jewelry. That's it!

I think I went from being a maximalist a few months ago, to wanting to hone down my wardrobe, to now being a very minimalist!!
To deal with this drastic change, which is obviously overwhelming, I am going to borrow from my previous closet. I will use items that come close in meeting some category in the Light, Cool, Soft category. I will not however continue to wear items that are dark near my face. I also will do my best to avoid camel since it was the very worst color during the draping!!

I did some quick shopping this weekend after deciding quickly on a color palate for the winter season. Kerry suggested winter white as being one of my best colors and soft gray a close second. I picked those as my main colors and tried to find some essential pieces to help get me by until I can find nice pieces. I also thought I could use the greens in my existing sweaters, the red (which is a kind of raspberry red) and maybe some blues for accents. I wanted to keep the palate fairly limited so I don't go overboard, and so I can get used to recognizing my colors.

I was lucky because winter white is easy to find. I was able to purchase two winter white turtleneck sweaters. I also found a pair of winter white ponte boot leg pants. Lastly I found a raspberry red turtleneck, and a winter white loose knit shell. I found a light gray dress that I can wear multiple ways, but I like it best layered over a slightly darker gray turtleneck that I already owned, and with gray leggings. Finally, I found a few winter white cold weather gear items. I purchased one blue top with a fake blouse bottom. It is almost periwinkle. I wore it today along with a previously owned Shearling front sweater and my red Aquatalia GoGo boots. (Oops, I didn't count today's sweater in the above count, but the sleeves are actually on the warm side, although the fur is spot on).
