....was myself in the mirror on monday. I decided to take the babe to the MN state fair on my day off. I had just finished bemoaning the loss of my awesome rx sunglasses. So until I could get a replacement made I decided to wear my white specs with large, large disney logo sunglasses on top. I figured I was at a state fair renowned for chocolate bacon and mohawks so I would fit right in. Anyway a few old ladies did notice the double lenses and side hinges and did a double take but I acted blase.

How about you? What strange things ( to your own mind anyway) have you noticed recently ( fashion wise)?

In the post office today I saw a bar insignia on a fishing shirt - you know, the ACG gear type nylon things with the flap across the back? Never seen embroidered logo across the back of a nylon gear shirt before. And this was on a lady!! (fashion in general is pretty lacking in this little town)

Today I saw a young woman wearing what appeared to be floral print leggings. Nothing wrong with that, except that one leg was clamdigger length and the other was ankle length, with the cuff turned up. She looked pretty trendy, so I'm pretty sure it was intentional.

MN State Fair time -- I always hear people ask others "what did you eat?" How did it become an eat-a-thon fair?

My sister and I were there last Friday and it was SO hot, we just sat on a bench on Machinery Hill for an hour of people watching (boy - where DO they come from?!) then we moved to a bench in front of the French crepes place and watched again. Ha! The State Fair is WNTW capital - at least until the evening daters show up in their cute sundresses and impractical shoes

I saw some really bad "man-pants" on a woman (khaki old-school dockers at least two sizes two big because they aren't cut for curves with a tucked in t-shirt and belt). I also counted 8 or 10 blatant PPL variations. Although I have occasionally been an offender, I have always been a stickler for PPL because I am tallish and know firsthand just how stupid it looks (and I feel) with a breeze on the ankle. Sadly, I only saw maybe 14 people total today. Of course, I was no gem myself--- but hey, I was there to get on a treadmill for a stress test and then take a stinky dog I have to lift into the vehicle to the vet, not go to work!

Actually, the worst is probably nearly-naked-neighbor. The hot weather has caused him to strike again, never wearing all the necessary items of clothing required to be worn in polite company at once. Of course, he does occasionally strike in winter-- I wonder if last year's fall of the roof into a snow bank will encourage him to wear more than sweatpants and unlaced sneakers while on the roof after an ice storm.

At the post office the other day: a woman, probably in her mid-30s, with her young son who was nicely made up (hair and face), wearing a decent well fitting tee with a cute print (to the hip), nice flat sandals.... and ankle-cropped black leggings as pants (major pet peeve of mine!!).

I haven't seen this myself, but a friend reported a Utilikilt-style miniskirt (which reportedly was about as "mini" as it could get without risking public indecency) seen in downtown Seattle.

One of the worst examples I ever saw was a woman in King's Cross station in London. She was about my size (very much plus sized) with a prominent belly, and was wearing overstretched leggings that you could see right through, and a cheap ribbed tank top that did not even cover her belly, let alone her butt. All this with a Juicy Couture bag, trendy ankle boots, and a nice jacket. Maybe she was called out of the house for an emergency and didn't have time to get dressed or something, but the whole look was painfully unflattering. She would have looked a lot better if she had just been naked.

Recently I have been seeing a lot of girls wearing denin short-shorts with ordinary pantyhose -- the kind with the reinforced tops, where the top of the thigh is a darker color than the rest of your leg. They wear them so short that this band of color sticks out of the shorts, and sometimes the inner pockets hang down, too. Bizarre. And generally worn with Ugg boots.

The other strange thing I see a lot is pulling leggings down over the heel, then wearing gladiator sandals on top of that.

I saw a woman wearing cropped, navy blue cargo pants and dark taupe platform sandals. She made it look fab. I wasn't able to ask her what her magic was...

Mine is fair-related too! The Alaska State Fair is crazy people-watching (not much of that here) and lots of eating of giant cream puffs and fried everything that can be put on a stick.

I was appalled at the number of young mothers wearing cropped tops with low rise jeans about 3 sizes too small - it wasn't just muffin top, it was something far worse, like an ice cream cone effect.

So I have to admit that I wear my oversize, non-prescription sunglasses over my regular glasses sometimes when I'm in the car. I don't own prescription sunglasses and just figure that no one's really going to notice when I'm just sitting in the car.

Another good place for people watching is Disney World. My husband and I go there several times a year and I'm generally shocked by the lack of proper clothing. I've been seeing a lot of young girls wearing yoga pants and tanks running around the park. Yeah, I know they're comfy but you're really just supposed to work out in them.

On another note, I also saw a couple really, genuinely *great* outfits on the Seattle-Bainbridge Island ferry run yesterday including a girl with short, choppy hair, killer glasses, a cute cropped black blazer, skinny jeans, and flat oxfords, who nevertheless managed to look utterly feminine and beautiful. I also saw plus-sized young woman who wore an outfit that I really wouldn't have thought would work - a bright tomato red midi-length dress with a fuchsia cardigan - but it looked FANTASTIC. The color tones were exactly right to look great together instead of being too "clashy", and the shape of her dress was perfect for her frame.

Just yesterday I spotted someone walking down the street wearing a fuschia top, navy and white striped midi skirt, ankle boots...and a rubber Yoda mask. Perfectly on trend for fall!

She was not Angie - she had light brown hair, wasn't *quite* as dainty-framed as Angie, and had more classic, less edge to her style - but I think the outfit and style would have certainly met with full YLF appproval!

I was just out to dinner and was seated a table over from a middle aged man in knee length compression shorts, Vibram 5 fingers (the toe shoes) and a brown World of Warcraft tshirt. The shirt stopped a bit above his rather large belly, so the compression shorts were very....revealing. Maybe he needed a steakhouse fix on the way home from the gym?

I saw a fabulously dressed woman at Nordies coffee shop...I couldn't get close enough to compliment her.
The perfect blend of neutral and a splash of color..the whole outfit just flowed beautifully and looked very effortless yet every detail was attended to...i always notice the little details.

Odd I guess because she didn't look overdone:)

I saw a super stylish girl today in the tram and she wore really big sunglasses and had still the huge CE sticker (https://secure.wikimedia.org/w.....ki/CE_mark) on the right glass. I wondered why she wasn't bothered about having her sight constricted.

And my new neighbour is a little weird looking. He always wears suits that are too short for him in the arms and legs, with combat boots and a purple woman's handbag. His hair looks a bit like this (http://www.reservix.de/img/por.....28aa04.jpg) and his last name is the name of a known literature villain. Well, he's always friendly and wishes me a good day!

I wear sunglasses over my regular prescription glasses all the time! Of course, they were designed for this purpose, but a lot of non-fitover sunglasses are large enough that I would be tempted to try still

For me, it was in my own house. We were getting ready to leave for the day and my 10 year old son walked in wearing a camoflauge t-shirt and a pair of multi-colored plaid bermuda shorts. I didn't want to embarrass him, so I asked him how he came up with the combination and he pointed out that one of the greens in the top matched one of the green stripes in the plaid shorts.

Yowza.

He ended up changing into denim shorts with a little guidance.
