Finding the items you need at the right price

The Limited

I went into the Limited yesterday for the first time since I was a teenager probably. The window displays caught my eye inside I found more interesting things. The quality didn't seem that great but I thought it was sufficient for the price point. Or am I wrong? What is your experience with the Limited?

I have a pair of pants that I bought at Marshalls, but have The Limited tag on them. They are decent enough. Nothing horrible about them--definately worth the price I paid at Marshalls.

Nothing wrong with the Limited. Much like ATL as a far as quality goes, but the look is different.

I purchased a top at The Limited a few weeks ago. It was on sale for $12.99, and isn't the *best* quality, but suited my needs, and I really couldn't find anything else like it that was any better, even at a place like Nordie's or Macy's.

Places like The Limited, and Express have monster sales every 3 months--January, end of March/April, July, and September/October. I buy basics at Express like camis, and occasionally denim, but other than that I wait for the sales. I used to work at the Arboretum Express (which was owned by The Limited), and unless an item was EXTREMELY popular (maybe only 1 or 2 items per season), it would end up on sale. So now I almost only shop the sales, because especially this year, I feel like the quality of some of their "trend" items has gone down, and are not worth the full price they are charging. But if that same top costs me $9.99 and I can work it in to my wardrobe and I can't find anything I like better, if it only lasts one or two seasons, that's not such a tragedy. The Limited brand might be better because it was the company's flagship line.

By the way, Patience, how was your birthday shopping? You have to tell us where you went and what you picked up. :)

I've only been in The Limited once, but I love the three tops I have from there. One was a gift that I got in high school and I've been wearing it for about 8 years. It’s a knitted top that may or may not classify as a long sleeved t-shirt; I’m not sure. The other two are woven blouses (one white lacy and one blue and white striped wrap) that I got for around $25 a piece two years ago, and both are still going strong. The white lacy top may have to go this year though, because it had sweat stains on it when I pulled it out of storage for spring.

Sarah, if the lacy one is white and can stand bleach, try spraying the armpit stains with Tilex (yes, the bathroom cleaner). I read about this on Angie's blog, and I thought it was nuts, but I tried it on some perspiration stains around the collar of a white jacket I had (nothing to lose, really) and it worked like a charm! I sprayed it on the stain, and let it sit for a minute, then threw it into the wash. Stain was GONE! I was amazed.

I "found" The Limited about 6 months ago. I shopped there years ago and didn't like anything so stopped going until a friend dragged me in. They have a younger look than AT and ATL. Most of their pants are unlined so I haven't purchased any. I have had great luck with their jeans (they name them by fit like AT and ATL). I have a 3 great tops from there and an beautiful, striking skirt. So give it a try. BUT...they are going through some big financial problems and are closing a lot of stores.
