Sizing inconsistencies are so annoying! I hope the last time is perfect! Fingers crossed.

Thanks Jackie. Agree, it's definitely annoying.

Those are great shorts; I hope you can eventually find a pair that fits! So weird about the inconsistencies.

Thanks Eva! I am a bit worried because I have read some bad reviews about the online store after I ordered... Hopefully it will work out.

So I got the parcel today and the sent me the wrong shorts. The papers say Via Shorts but the sent me the Vista Shorts (which are longer and cut differently). I'm seriously annoyed right now, seems the bad reviews were there for a reason. I asked them for a return label and my money back ASAP. I'm wondering if I should once again order at the more expensive (and reliable) store, they have the 29 back in stock. But I'm a bit discouraged right now...

What?! That's terrible! I'd suggest waiting till you've settled mentally from this, then deciding whether to re-order. FWIW, I'd vote try the other store.

Thanks Alasse - I've gotten a return label from them and have brought the shorts to the post already. I made copies and took pictures to document it and opened a PayPal case for buyers protection. Seems like they do this systematically, too bad I saw it too late. I wrote them a mail to say that I know this wasn't an accident from what I've read and told them about PayPal and that I want my money back as soon as possible. We'll see what happens. The other store would be unproblematic, they've already processed my two returned shorts (very quick!) and I've ordered from them in the past so I know they're above board.

Okay, I ordered the 29 at the other store. Lesson learned, check the reputation of stores beforehand...

Good call

Online shopping is so tricky. I never buy stuff from random vendors. If prices seem too good to be true, I don't even consider the option.

I really hope they return your money. And I'm glad you found the right shorts.

What a lot of struggle for shorts!!! You have amazing patience though, truly applaudable

Oh dear, Astrid! What a terrible service you got from that vendor. It's a shame you had your time wasted, but now at east you will finally get what you want.

Thanks Maneera - they weren't crazy cheap, just a bit less. And the site has a corresponding B&M store in Germany, so it didn't really look suspicious. I never would order anywhere dubious looking either! Let's just hope all the trouble will be worth it and that last pair will fit.

Thanks Diane! They have answered my mail today and said they were going to return the money as soon as they get the package. Hopefully my threat was enough and I won't have to go through the trouble with PayPal.

I got the size 29 from the other store! Now that's what I call quick. Fit is pretty much as good as it gets - there's enough room for my behind and the waist fits perfectly. I don't feel at all like I could lose these, the waistband hugs me nicely without being so snug that it gives me muffin top. I have to confess that I have a small version of me crying inside my head at the thought of showing so much of my thighs, but the bigger part wants to club it over the head. They are definitely expensive for a pair of shorts, but they're well made and I think would be great for minimalist travel. What do you think of the length? Do you think the inseam is long enough? Maybe I should try them with my sneakers too...

(I got my money back from the other store, thank God!)

I'm so glad you got this all sorted.

And the shorts sound wonderful! yay for the right size! I think the length is fine, but this IS a personal thing. I wouldn't for a second think "man, that girl's shorts are short" , in fact many of mine are this length, but if YOU aren't comfortable, you won't wear them. So is it worth the cost for potentially just the trip? Or will they make you happy for many years? Will you get used to the length once you've worn them a few times?

They look great. Much better than the larger size, for sure. I think the proportions of the shorts on your legs are just right. I'm like you about shorts length - I had to talk myself into shorter shorts - but in my case I think it made my summer outfits look better once I adjusted to it. And no one else would possibly think they were short shorts.

Love the final version, Astrid. I think the length is flattering on your leg. I would advise sitting in them first -- sometimes that makes a difference!

Thanks Elizabeth, Greyscale and Beth Ann! It's good to hear that you don't think these look too short. It's definitely a case of not being used to it, for me. I was very self conscious about my legs as a teen and then later when I gained weight. I don't think my legs look too bad now, but they're definitely "fleshy" - know what I mean? That's me overall, you just don't see if I gain some muscle. My thighs look huge to me when I sit down, but I guess nobody besides me would bat an eye. It's all in my head and it's something I definitely want to work on (cue my bikini purchase). And I agree that this shorter leg length does look more stylish. I've worn the striped denim shorts which have a similar length out on errands already and felt fine after a while.

So I tried them on again just now and I think I'm keeping them. I think I would regret it if I decided to send them back.

Astrid, good call keeping them! They fit you great.

Love them! And that's my favourite hemline for shorts. Your thighs look wonderful.

Thanks Eva. I'm sure I'll get used to the length in no time.

The shorts are really cute and they aren't too short. You look young, healthy, and lovely, and you have very pretty legs!

I've been following this saga interestedly, but had nothing to add before. I think the shorts look great on you and I wouldn't blink an eye at the length. I can't exactly tell from the photos, but since they're wool, they look like something you could even pop some tights under this fall for a cute transition look. I'm glad you persevered and found a pair with a great fit!

I love the final shorts! Hurray! So glad your money came back too!

I like this length. They look cool and smart. And if you want to feel less conscious of your legs, these shorts are a great place to start.

Thanks everyone! And Jenn you're right, they would work with tights and a pullover.

Wonderful shorts Astrid, great length and you have pretty legs...I agree with Jenn about wearing them in the Fall with tights.

What a saga, but in the end you found the right pair!!

Thanks. Yes, I didn't even think of it as an option but that would make them wearable for a much bigger part of the year and means the expense isn't as extravagant as I thought. I plan to buy some new booties this fall, I could definitely see the shorts with black opaque hose, booties and a slouchy wool pullover...

Ooh, I can't wait to see photos of that! I absolutely love the wool shorts with tights look.

Astrid, the new shorts look great. Not too short at all as long as YOU feel good in them!

So many good things: the fit, the quick response, your money back, more options to wear the shorts with.... I'm so happy they worked!

Another option if they feel too short is to check the seam allowance at the hem; you may be able to let them down 0.5-1". Sometimes that makes all the difference.

Thanks Jenn! I do like it too, but I never before had a pair to try it out...

Thanks Kari.

Thanks Alasse! Yes, perseverance paid off. So glad it all worked out. No letting out the hem though, it doesn't look like there's much allowance. But I'm fine with that.
