The battle of purple dresses - please vote!

I have picked up these two purple dresses today, and I am trying to decide which one to keep. You can also vote for keeping both or neither. The first one is a ponte dress by Muse and the second one sweater dress by H&M:

I would also wear them in different ways, not only with slouchy boots: with classic knee high boots; or normal shoes, and the sweater dress could be worn as tunic over skinnies/leggings. The price is not an issue since they both cost almost the same.

Tanya, both dresses look FAB on you but I absolutely love the little sleeve and neckline details on the H&M dress. I'd have you keep both but if you had to pick one I vote for the H&M dress Then again, I'm no expert so I won't be surprised if others think differently.

Hmm this is tough. The Muse dress looks great and will probably last longer, but like Vani, I prefer the look of the H&M dress. I don't think you can go wrong either way to be honest. Sorry, that probably wasn't very helpful =\ Out of curiosity, what is the H&M dress made out of? I tend to shy away from anything with a high acrylic content because the pilling is outrageous.

Maya, the H&M one is 50% wool and 50% acrylic. It looks to be of a fairly good quality for H&M standards, but I haven't worn it yet of course.

Tanya, both dresses look great on you, really. If money isn't an issue I'd keep both. I love those boots with the dresses btw! Which boots are they? And are they comfy?

I don't mind that it's H&M (I have lots of stuff from there, as you know)...I just feel like the ponte would be more durable than any kind of sweater dress, even if it was cashmere or merino wool or something pricier. Sweatery materials just don't hold up in my experience. I would maybe wear the H&M one around the house while you're just lounging out and see how it holds up.

...then again it's so hard to find the right sweater dress, and since it is unlikely to last long anyway you may as well not spend a lot.

OK, I say just keep both I'm such an enabler...

Both dresses are beautiful but from pictures only, the H and M dress looks so pretty the way it hugs your curves. I do think they are different enough in style to be able to use both in a wardrobe if you decide to keep both. The first one is more sweet and the second more alluring.
On my monitor one looks blue and one looks purple.

You a re absolutely right Maya about sweater dresses. i will try wearing it a bit around the house and see how it holds up.

Munequita, the boots are by Jessica Simpson ( I know ) and they are very comfy.

San, I guess the first one is more of a pink-purple and the second one more of a blue-purple, and my camera is not particularly good.

I really like both. I believe Michelle has that Muse dress in cobalt. I really wanted it too but now my size is gone! Where did you buy yours?

You look great in both Tanya! Their styles are different, even though they are both in the purple family, so it's hard to pick just one. I like the Muse one because it's elegant/classic, and the H&M one because of the fit and the fun details.

Both look great. I prefer the H&M dress, if you only have to keep one. It's got fun details. That dress over leggings would be HOT, HOT, HOT!

Jessica Simpson boots, I would have never guessed, Tanya. What style are they? I think your calves are thin like mine, not sure. I have 11" calves (I pretty much don't have any...hehe, and it is so hard to find boots), so I would love to try these.

I love the color purple on you, so I still think you should keep both dresses. They are different enough and it is hard to find good fitting sweater dresses.

I know both frocks well and have had them on several bodies – including my own. Hands down the Muse dress. I love that thick Ponte fabric. A better buy for sure.

Thank you so much everyone! I have half-decided : I am keeping the Muse one for sure and am still debating if I should keep the H&M one as well. I like it as well, it is just the matter of finances.

Marianna, I found the Muse dress yesterday at my local Marshall's, it was a great deal ($40).

They are bit loose around my 12" calves,, but since they are a slouchy style, they are supposed to look that way. They can be also worn with skinnies tucked in.

The final decision is to keep Muse dress and return the H&M one. I am sort of sad because I like the H&M one a lot too, but it is what is wisest to do.

Tanya, you made the right choice. I have to smack myself once in a while because the concept of the quality of fabric keeps escaping me. It is something I have to remind myself of constantly, and one that I did not consider when proffering my vote on which dress to keep. What would I do without YLF and you gals?
