Thank you everyone for holding my hand there. I'm relieved I've done it, because if I hadn't I'd still be fretting about it. Now I can relax until they ship.

JAileen: Basic risk is the nominal shipping cost. This is worth it for the chance to try on a pair of shoes I've been obsessed with since they hit the catwalk in 2008. Yeah, I looked it up. So not quite ten years, but a very long time. Opportunity cost is probably the handbag I was thinking of buying, a purchase I can defer until later in the year.

I've been looking at them again online and I'm still concerned about the heel height. A good pair of heels can be surprisingly comfortable, but if I'm not happy then back they go.

YAY. You added a Find. They look very "Liz", and certainly have my blessing if they are sufficiently comfortable - and we're allowed a few pairs of "sitting shoes".

I love these and I'm really looking forward to seeing them on you. I noticed them on Netaporter and put them in Finds a couple of weeks back, with some amazing pants. I was a bit tempted but 1) having trouble with heels lately and 2) have a similar, but of course not Demeuelemeester pair of booties.

Oddly enough, I stopped by the Rack today (...this is becoming an addiction) and found an amazing pair of Demeulemeester pants... two sizes too big. It's the first time I've seen the brand there - maybe your post was good karma. I love the clothes but I so rarely get to try them on or see them in person, since I don't always feel comfortable trying on things I know will never actually buy at Barneys. (I'd have bought them if they fit, but they didn't, and of course the high-end items are always one-off things from the Nordstrom designer sections, not multiple sizes of the same item.)

Thanks again everyone for confirming my choice. It wasn't a whim by any means and it's not the most I've ever spent on a single item, but I've never parted with that much cash quite so quickly before.

Having slept on it, I don't regret it, but there's a caveat. If they work, it may mean a fond goodbye to the Ghesquiere-era Balenciagas.
