Test a new YLF feature

Hi All,

We are about to add a new "Tell A Friend" feature to YLF. But before we hook it up to the front page, I thought I'd ask folks here to give it a try and let me know (on this thread) how things go.

Does it work properly?
Is there anything that you don't like about the way it works?

Please go to this page: http://youlookfab.com/tell-a-friend

Thanks
Greg

Hi Greg.... I just sent off an invite to my friend. I'll let you know if she gets it okay. The only thing I noticed, is after I sent the invite, the browser brought me back to the Blog page. Maybe there should be some confirmation that the invitatino was sent? Or at the very least have it bring you back to the Forum page.

Also, while I'm at it... Have you looked into putting in a "next button" so the reader can go from topic to topic without having to scroll back to the top of the page and click on the "recent conversations" tab?

I did it earlier today - sent the email to myself just so I could see it. It worked well and the email appeared in my inbox right away. I have to admit though that I don't have much experience with this type of feature - I tend not to use them because they feel "spam-y" to me. I'd probably send an actual email instead.

The email itself is cute. Rather than say "XYZ left you the following message" I might say "XYZ sent you the following message".

I have just tested this sending an email to my second email address and I have received it immediately. It worked great!

Works for me too. I agree with Nicole that it would help to have some kind of confirmation page.

I got the message I sent to another of my email accounts. Worked just fine. I agree with the suggestion for the confirmation message as well!

I sent it to myself and it worked, however it was treated as a junk mail and was put in my Junk Mail box. Not sure how it can be prevented though.

Hmmm I wonder if there's a way for the computer guru to have the email come from the member's email address instead of YLF?

This is all great input. Thank you very much.

In a few days we'll hook up a new version that incorporates some of the suggestions.
