Taupe, Gray, Black and Red on a Windy Day

Today for some reason it is just windy as all get out! After our lovely warm weather yesterday it is a little disappointing. I wanted to be comfortable but warm for my mid-day walk so I pulled out my Express red faux leather jacket that hadn't made it into my workplace yet and decided to wear it. WIW today:

red faux leather moto jacket - Express
taupe striped long sleeve t - AT
gray straightleg jeans - Levi Demi-Curve
black ballet flats - Jessica Simpson
white watch
opal earrings
red handbag

I like the combo together and decided to keep it unadorned so no scarf for a change! I hope you like it.

Red is such a fantastic color on you. The only thing I'd suggest is a different colored bag if you have one. The red bag gets lost on top of the red jacket and both pieces really want to shine on their own.

I bought this jacket at the same time I got the cognac colored asymmetrical one. I find myself wearing the other more but I do really like this one also!

Thanks for liking the red on me and I think you are absolutely right that the purse and the jacket sort of compete for attention. I thought I would try the matchy match but probably a light cream or even a taupe or black purse would be better!

Love the structure and shape, along with the color of the red jacket. It's terrific on you! I agree with Sylvie that I'd try another bag, even though the red one is quite pretty!

Yep. The red bag doesn't really bring anything to the party! I'll usually wear it with neutrals.

Lovely outfit Merideth, I love how the red looks with the soft neutrals. The black shoes are giving me a little pause, though they are a delicate cut the darkness feels a little heavy for this otherwise light outfit. I'd rather see a metallic. That's just me, though

Great outfit! Scarves are your signature, but it's refreshing to see you without one also! I agree with Aida that you might want to try a lighter shoe with this combo. That jacket is fantastic. It's a great color on you and pairs beautifully with that striped top.

I see what you mean about the darkness. Hmmm. I don't have a metallic flat yet but I do have the cognac flats so that would have been a better choice then the black flats. Thanks!

Yes I do indeed wear a lot of scarves but it is nice to give them a rest once in awhile. I agree about a lighter shoe! I am really glad you think the red with the striped taupe top play nicely together.
