Target Frye-look-alike boots - Question (Angie & ChewySpaghetti?)

Hi ladies! I'm back after a crazily good-but-exhausting summer (many family weddings!) and I have been so enjoying catching up on forum posts and seeing all your lovely outfits! Inspiring, as always.

SOOOO I have a question... Target is restocking these boots (http://www.target.com/Mossimo-.....62-1342909) and I already ordered the tan ones in a 10. I'm usually a 9 1/2 or a 10 and from the reviews it seemed I should err on the larger side).

Two questions relating to my utterly skinny calves which always give me boot trouble.

ChewySpaghetti, what is the calf circumference on your boots? Which size are yours? I'm just wondering because sometimes the calf size gets larger with the foot size.

Angie & everyone, are these the kind of boots that have to fit snug to the calf? I am hoping to wear them both with jeans and dresses and was thinking that they could add a 'slouchy-type' effect to dresses. But if they are large around the calf, I could just stick to jeans. Either way, can these be loose in the calf area?

Thanks!!!

Hi Ellen,

Mine are a size 10 and they measure 16 inches at the top, but I have stretched them a bit. I usually wear a 9 1/2, but I got an orthotic to put in these and they are still a little bit loose at the heel. I think that with some moleskin they will be fine. I think these type of boots look better when they are loose at the top. People's comments about mine were that they looked too tight.

Thank you! That's very helpful. My calves are just about 13" in circumference, so that will be a loose fit for me still. My instinct was that these can be loose, though, as you said... and I will want to fit jeans in there as well.

Also good to know about the size/fit. I was thinking I might go for an orthotic as well, since they will probably be pressed into service a LOT!

It's great to see you again Ellen. How are you doing?

I'd say these can be a little looser around the calf, but don't take my word for it;-)

Thanks Inge! I have once again been enjoying seeing you post - always inspiring! Thanks for the input.

I am doing well. Rather pregnant, but feeling good. :-) Looking forward to shopping in a normal size in a couple of months! There are so many good looks here that I want to copy. :-)

Good to have you back, Ellen! I'm glad you're feeling fab :0)

I echo, Inge. These boots can be a little loser around the calf, but not too loose! They don’t slouch so you don’t have as much wiggle room.

Thanks Angie! I'll try these out when I get them and see how they work.

Me too! (Another with 12" calves) It's good to get input on how these boots should fit.

I'm glad this helped! I own no boots beside wellies and sledding gear simply because of my difficulty finding boots narrow enough in my price range. Any time I mention it I meet others with this problem... you'd think retailers would clue in and make more options!

I'm lookng forward to getting into boots looks with these and with lower slouchy boots for now... very exciting!

Thanks for opening up these options, Angie.

It is exciting! Thank you for being open the look Ellen - I hope today's blog post helped.

I'm a 13 inch calf gal myself.
