SYC - this is how sneaky or is it just being "creative?" that I can be

OK - so Angie's blog post yesterday regarding the shoes on sale just about made me fall off of the SYC wagon. I WANT every single pair of the Everybodys! I mean the prices and the styles!!!!!! I just can't stop obsessing about them! Last night laying in bed dreaming of those shoes - I hatched a "plan." Call one of my sisters today, ask them to buy one of the pairs of Everybodys for me - and I will pay them back in April! They would do it for me - I know - at least under normal circumstances they would - but, they know that I have committed to SYC until April and they have both agreed to be my accountability partners - so, come to think of it, they probably wouldn't. Anyway, when I got up this morning I was able to see the deviousness and dishonesty of my plan and did NOT call either one of them - but I'm serious, if it wouldn't have been the middle of the night last night when I thought of the "plan" - I would have called them!
Any of you other current or past SYCers rationalize and devise such ridiculous ways to "techinically" getting around SYC????

It's cheating IMO- sorry Marley.

I think you either buy them and admit to falling off the wagon (and get right back on!) or you don't buy them and stick with the challenge.

Oh - I know it is cheating! And like I said - I was able to see that this morning - it was just that I was amazed at how low I would stoop to try to get around SYC! Luckily, I think I've averted falling off this time!

Oh, I have diverted my spending into items for the house (which is actually OK since I've been putting of buying things like a salad spinner in favor of things like shoes) and workout gear.

Cheating or not? Hmmm....it's not totally clear. I'm not saving money the way I thought, but I am taking care of some holes that have been lingering for a while...

.I ONLY lasted 3 weeks and was the first to cave under shopping pressure...I was so unhappy not shopping, because honestly shopping...even for a lipstick makes me happy:)

I get what you are saying Marley...I had to think about whether making something for myself or not would be cheating....and then I could get that cute fur scarf I've been wanting, but I wouldn't "technically" be buying it...

The key word is "technically"...LOL

We can become very creative to get our little fix...

In the end I realized that I had made the decision to live with *just* what was in my closet (no borrowing, or buying, or making anything other than making *over* an orphan) and buying fabric to make the scarf would be going against that idea.

Sooooo, no fabric store for me...LOL

Marley, not to be a saboteur, BUT in three months when you are desperately seeking awesome shoes and the pair you most desired are sold out, you will be kicking yourself in the shins. I'm with Taylor--ban the ban. Don't flood your boat, but get what you really desire.

Well you mentioned that you really like the style, but do you NEED them? Out of all your sandals, will the Everybodys fill a hole? Are you willing to get rid of a pair to get one of these?

You started SYC for a reason...I think it's OK if it's actually filling a need instead of a want.
