Switching shoes - need advise for pants

Now that I'm having to wear different shoes, I have a style question. Can I wear my Dansko sandals with straight-legged pants that are not ankle pants? I'm not sure about the PPL, as I bought the pants when I was wearing flats. I can't wear flats anymore, and don't want to have to buy new pants. The pants I have are slim-legged and come to the top of my sandals. Is that okay? I think so, but need confirmation.

For fall, I plan to wear flared pants with my Alegria classic clogs, as I'm sure they won't look right with any other type of pant. I'm petite, so I have to think about these things.

The pants come to the top of my sandals. I don't know how else to describe it. They're not wide-legged pants. Just your typical ankle pants, except a little longer on me because I had to order a regular misses size to get the longer rise I need for my torso.

This is just me, with no authority to quote, but to my own eye, with my own outfits, what looks/feels right is to reveal a consistent amount of foot/ankle, so I adjust the footwear to the hemline. EG, with culottes or shorter crops I wear oxfords, with an ankle pant I wear a shoe with a higher vamp like the ones I call my driving moccasins or a smoking slipper type flat, and with pants that fully cover the ankle bone I will wear ballet flats, which with higher-hemmed pants feel too bare. Of course this is all with flats so you'd have to extrapolate, but I'd suggest you look at the long view in a full length mirror and see what is most pleasing to your eye. Turning up the hem by 1 to 3 inches can give you something to compare to. And so can taking pictures for the forum.

Without a picture it's hard to tell. From what you describe, I think they either need to be shortened to look intentionally short or the hem let out. Now, I have been known to ignore PPL, especially last summer when Angie told me my one comfortable pair of pants was not the right length. Not worth hemming for 6 weeks of wear, and letti it out was too much of a pain. There, my confession!

Thanks for weighing in on this, ladies. The pants just cover my ankles, but I think they'd look weird if I shortened them. I'm just not sure what to do. I have a pair of lightweight BF jeans and another pair on the way. These can be rolled up; and for some reason, I like rolled up pants better than ankle pants because in my mind I don't look like I'm wearing pants that are too short. Ankle pants give off that "too short" vibe IMO.

I think I'm okay with these pants and shoes together. My ankles are barely covered, so I can still see the top strap of my sandals, and plenty of skin shows because the type of sandals they are. I only wear these pants with sandals, so I think I'm good.
