Summer Hair style

Nishaa

Working mother of two.. Home has a/c in bedrooms only..
Live inland with summer for almost 7months, 4 months humid..
Have very thin almost straight hair with no volume ..
Need to be wash and go..
Often use a clutch at home.. But professionally a bun.. Length helps with bun. I hate hair at my neck while humid.. But I'm not ready to commit to chin length or shorter.. I've in past and doesn't feel like me. Also I wear long earrings casually that go better with some what longer hair .. May be shoulder length..
Question: short hair or long ?
And if long how long..
Any pics I can see..

Tough to say without seeing your face and some images of the types of cut you might be considering. It sounds as if you prefer long and it is easier -- very short or very long tend to be most maintenance free.

I think both lengths are flattering and attractive. Because you described your hair as thin, I would go for the shorter length -- thinness is exaggerated the longer your hair is.

The shorter one won't lend itself to bun.. I guess. In the past I've gone to 2" short... In my first preg. No longer fancy that, but can I go shorter and layers. But you're absolutely right about longer being thinner..

You are very pretty and look great in both photos. I think the 2nd is more polished looking. I wonder if you could consult with a hairdresser about ways to get medium length hair off your neck. I know this is a problem in the heat. My own hair is very thick which is one reason I wear it short! I just can't deal with the weight or heat of it.

Oh even I think second is better.. I just am not sure a low ponytail would be professional enough..
Don't be fooled by prettiness though.. These are my best shots.. Ha ha..

I like both styles! I live in very similar weather to you (are you in India) so I understand your problem.

While your long hair may be thin, I see curls. How does it look up in a pony? I have curly hair and prefer to keep it short too. Not only is longer hair more high maintenance, it just makes me feel hotter.

I recommend that you see a hair stylist and ask him/her to work with the texture of your natural hair. Some layering can keep the hair short enough to wear open at work, yet long enough for a pony at home. It does get super hot in the kitchen!!! I advice you to work with natural texture because otherwise your hair will need too much product and styling which is time consuming.

The curls are all credited to weather .. I can roll them up and some curls will come up.. Wavy loose curls.. Great for bed head look.. Professionally may be you are right shorter open hair seems a good idea.. Like the second one may be.. It's just that I'm lazy and some days my hair won't look good open.. Styling on weekdays .. You must be kidding.. In your photo it doesn't look curly may be loose curls like mine? In that case How short would be good ?

Here is a photo. My hair becomes more curly when it's humid - like now.

Most of us are lazy on some days! So don't worry about that. Those are the days you can tie your hair. I'd say - try shoulder length to start with.

Ooh you are so pretty and I love your hair length.. But yeah I'll get shoulder length+2" before I get the courage to commit to shorter..

I have been growing out my hair over the past year, and I would say that shoulder length plus two inches (as you said) is a good point if you want to have hair that is long enough to make a nice bun or other type of updo. Any shorter than that, and it can be difficult.

About styling...sometimes when you go shorter, like to a bob, it can be more work than having long hair. The hair is too short to be put up, but it is long enough that it has to be styled some way. So it always requires a little extra care, at least in my opinion. I have found that having longer hair can actually be lower maintenance because you have the option of just putting it up in a bun or something if you're having a bad hair day, whereas if you have a chin-length cut, you're stuck. The only other option that would be supereasy would be a very short cut, because they are generally simple to style, but that would be a completely different look.
