We're back to hot days in OK, and because we've had so much rain, it's also unusually humid. So we're talking actual temps in the mid to high 90s with perceived temps well over 100F. On my last post, I got lots of good suggestions, including wearing a breezy dress, and pairing my bottoms with printed tops.

Pics 1 & 2: This is a turquoise linen pintucked shirt dress that's been sitting in my closet, unworn, for 2 years. Since I'm still trying to purge my overstuffed wardrobe, I decided to wear it or ditch it. I had worn it once when I first got it and had felt really really frumpy (Pic 3) and so never wore it again. But when I wore it yesterday, I felt very cool (temp wise) and sort of free. And boy did people look. I was the best dressed person at the pharmacy/library/gas station! I think of the is as a very "E" dress (even though the skirt is straight rather than full), so I took E inspiration - I tried to think which of my earrings she might choose for me to wear, and settled on these enameled peacocks. I then did a version of her favorite fake-coronet, and french braided the front section then pulled the whole shebang into a braid. Oh, shoes are old bronze-y snakeskin printed gladiators, which sounds way more exotic than they look in person.

Pics 3 and 4: White pants! I've wanted white pants for years, but I'm ridiculously terrified of them. I bought these cheaply in June at the Evil Empire of Doom (WallyWorld) and have been experimenting with them. They are not my ideal shape (I would have preferred slightly more fitted and tapered to the ankle), but they are fine for experimenting. Today I took YLF advice and paired with a printed top - this is a floral calico (actually quilted material) T that I made maybe last summer, but don't think I've ever worn. I thought the wide neckline called for a pretty necklace, and the only white necklace I have is this moonstone piece I bought myself in the 90s. I never do matchy matchy earrings necklace, but what the heck, I liked the sort of sweet look for today and decided to put my hair up in braids for an old fashioned look. This is four braids crossed and pinned. You can see I didn't do the world's best job, but hey, I got the whole shebang up and pinned, so good enough for today. Shoes are my most comfy shoes ever (this is the third pair I've had, I wore the other two in the ground), my teal suede Keens. I really like the way this looks in the photos, but have discovered that the wide neckline tends to fall open when I'm sitting, and I think I've flashed half the library at this point (and it's not even 10AM). Ah well.

Thanks for looking/reading and suggestions for improvement very welcome.
