Una,
I really like the Aubrey jacket and Hutton trousers. Would you get them hemmed for heels? I can't really see them with flats (do you ever wear flats?). Potentially stumpifying with flats.
If it helps, I bought super 120s suiting from JCrew recently. I was a tiny bit disappointed that my trousers weren't lined. I feel like they stretch and need to be dry cleaned more frequently than they would if they were lined. All the dry cleaning means they'll wear out sooner. However, I do like their cuts and the quality of the fabric and overall have been very happy with them. Definitely worth a go at ordering it to see if it works and if you like the fabric.
As for the skirt, I wouldn't buy it. I think the recommendation to buy two bottoms really depends on a couple of things coming together. First, that you'll actually want to wear both types of bottoms. You're not so keen on the skirt, so strike that as no. Second, that the style is one that you'll wear long enough that you will wear the hard-wear bottom pieces out before you wear out the jacket. JCrew is fashion-y enough that you'll have the suit for a few years of hard wear, but it isn't like you'll have it for ten years. So, second one, strike as no too. However, keep in mind that you'll probably dry clean the bottoms much more often, accelerating the wear on them and making them shinny from pressing much sooner than the jacket.
If you think you will really wear the heck out of the jacket and you want a third piece to equalize the wear on the jacket, why not buy a second pair of trousers in a different shape? There is absolutely no rule that says your suit has to be a jacket, a pair of trousers and a skirt! Two pairs of trousers in different silhouettes will give you more versatility for tops, but still maintain the bottom to top wear-out ratio.
So that's my opinion, for what it's worth!
