Hi Kathleen, I went to read your blog, and I have a technical suggestion: can you increase the font size that you're using? Everything was so tiny I couldn't actually read it! It looks like you're at 8-point, and probably 10 or 12 would be much better visually. Just a thought!

Hey, Kathleen - great post!

I have wondered myself whether this interest in appearance betrays a certain shallowness, but have made some level of peace with it by paying attention to how it makes me feel when I'm satisfied with how I look.

Basically, when I'm confident about what I'm wearing, I can then forget about it and focus on issues of greater consequence. When I have thrown on something that I think is frumpy (or, just as bad but more rare, too "flashy") it distracts me all day.

Pay attention in the morning, then forget it all day. Seems like a good tradeoff to me!

I loved reading your blog but would like to add that lack of awareness about your appearance makes as much of a statement, if not more, than putting together an outfit in which you are comfortable and is suitable for the occassion.

Whether we like it or not, people will judge us on our appearane. I believe studies have shown that it takes as little as 30 seconds for someone to assess a stranger. Therefore I would like my appearance to convey my personality and lifestyle.
