My mother, of blessed memory, was in the fashion business. My late father, one sharp dressed man, hated to shop. In that respect, theirs was a match made in heaven.

In comparison, I ain't got nothin'. And I married a man who embodies eastern US prep, dressing just like he did in college. Elder son falls somewhere between PIB and hipster and gives style little apparent attention. Sporty daughter spends big on gear, and focuses on appropriateness in her limited professional and urban wardrobes. My baby boy? A total throwback! Into Rat Pack style and loves Ted Baker. Go figure!

Thanks for such an entertaining thread!

Thank you all for such interesting stories.....I have loved reading them all. Such a variety of families, I really cannot see any trends at all!!

Lots of male relatives who love style, some minimalist aesthetics, some minimalist practical types. Lots of female relatives who were fearless trend setters, others pragmatic for their situation...and combinations of all the above.

And then those stylish pets too including the eyelinered dogs:)
