Striped shirt w/argyle sweater - does it work?

Okay, I am getting my sea legs as a YLFer but am still unsure of some of these combos! Can you let me know if this one works? It's the Benetton brown argyle sweater I wrote about buying ages ago, with an ATL striped (black stripes) ruffled shirt.

It definitely works! A sweater layered over a ruffly top is one of my favorite looks to sport. :D

Thanks Ana - I am still a little tentative about ruffles and stripes with argyle ... you know ... am glad to know it doesn't look too busy!

I think it looks great. The ruffles soften an otherwise very preppy, masculine look. I think it's interesting. The stripe is subtle, so the patterns don't compete (as far as I can see).

I'm inspired - I think it looks great! Makes me want to go out and get an argyle sweater and ruffly shirt!

Fabulous! I sport this look too :-)

Ooh, I'm all inspired, Laura. I've been on the lookout for an argyle vest that fits, but so far no luck. It's annoying, I remember bumping into them when I wasn't interested. Heh, Murphy's law of fashion strikes again. Anyway, thank you for the inspiration. I'll definitely try something similar in the future. I'm taking notes :)

Also, your bedroom looks very cozy.

Love, love, love!

I really like the combination of the ruffled blouse and the argyle sweater -- like Ana says, the ruffle gives the argyle a really nice feminine touch.

I really like this look! I'm rethinking ruffly blouses now :)

What a great look! I really like it a lot. I think I might try something similar, thanks for the inspiration. Btw, I am still looking forward to seeing a photo of that gorgeous tunic-like item you got at Benetton at the same time as the argyle sweater.

Oh I love how the two necklines work together.

Tanya, you won't believe this, but I ended up returning the tunic. It was a short-lived but passionate love affair :)

If I was younger and still living in NYC I would've found tons of occasions to wear it. (It was very form-fitting and would've been perfect for going out at night). But with my lifestyle as SAHM and writer, I just couldn't imagine wearing it very much.

Sad!

Oh, that is sad indeed. But it's probably for the best if you do not have a lot of opportunities to wear it. I too had to pass on a lot of gorgeous items because they didn't really fit my student lifestyle.

Are those the pewter Aerosoles shoes that Angie posted recently? ( I also bought a pair!)

Looks great!

Looks super! You're a great ruffle layerer :-)

Yes Tarzy, those are the pewter Aerosoles - scored them on sale for $59!

I have a pink and grey argyle just like the one you are wearing -- I am totally going to look for a ruffled blouse now. Thanks for the inspiration.
