Stretching my fashion muscles with All Saints haul

Bear with me, these pieces are fun and funky and I was playing around with styling them. Excuse the no-makeup and undone hair!

All Saints Tower cropped cardigan. This is a super-deconstructed piece.
1. With black boots.
2. With white Docs--I don't think this look works, on several levels.

All Saints Urien Aditya dress. Love the construction of this piece--very substantial. But does it overwhelm me?
3. As is, with Swedish Hasbeen clogs.
4. White jacket, white docs.
5. Black cardi, black boots. Inspired by Audi's look:

Let me know what you think -- any keepers? Can I pull off white Docs (maybe not in these outfits, some other way?)?

I like photo # 5 best. It reins in the dress. I like the dress and the color, but I say add a belt and see what that does. # 3 with a belt...it just gives it that little something.

Not sure how I feel about the white docs in these photos. I know Angie wears hers a lot and maybe she can advise you better. To me, the black ones look better because it makes more of a continual leg line.

I am not a fan of asymmetry in clothing, so it's difficult for me to comment on the All Saints cardi because it is so asymmetrical. However, it's clearly edgy and looks fashionable, and it looks good on you. I think it works well with the black boots but agree that I don't like it as much with the white Docs.

I think that the Urien dress does overwhelm you when it's worn alone. I like the dress with the black cardi, boots and tights, but I fear it is still overwhelming. If it were me, I would return it.

I turned the brightness all the way up on my computer but still had trouble seeing the detail in the black dress (and I can tell there is a lot by the hems), so I can't really comment on that one.

I LOVE the first cardi - I have a similar one but not quite as rad... I think responses may depend on whether people are fans of the post-apocalyptic hipster style or not (I am!). I like the tan dress when reined in, but not so much on its own. That may be limiting to you. I think the black dress fits as it is supposed to fit.

With this kind of edgy style I think it comes down to personal tastes to a degree.

I love the dress with the black cardi. It looks really fabulous. I don't like it alone.

I love the white boots, but not with these outfits.

Can't really see the black dress.

Love 3 4 and 5 on you. The dress is gorgeous and so unique! Now that I see *better* photos of the black dress, I'm not loving it as much. There seems to be a lot of fabric in the front--and from the side it looks rather shapeless. It could just be the black on black playing tricks on me--I think you posted previously with bare legs. That could be why I'm not liking it as much.

Lurve the white Docs with the white jacket. Sooo fresh!

I love, love, love asymmetry, and while All Saints merchandise does not really gel with my own style, I can a million percent appreciate it on others.

So, I love the first cardigan, Cathy. I also love you in the last black dress, if you add texture to the ensemble. I vote pass on the tan dress though - the weakest of the three by far.

I like #1, #5 and #7. Although #3 on it's own, the dress is overwhelming on tiny you.

Hmmm, the white Docs just don't look right. Few people can pull those off. The beige dress by itself is way too washed out and volumnous on you. But with the black layer on top and belted, you look great!! That's a nice look on you and something I've seen only in Japan, where they have mastered the art of layering unstructured pieces of clothing and making it look edgy and feminine at the same time. The last outfit is also super on you. Edgy, sleek, different, and I love all black on you!

Hee, Cathy, I've rapidly become obsessed with All Saints in last several months. So much so that I bit the bullet and made an order - to shut up one of my inner style personalities. We'll see how it pans out.

I gotta say, I don't like that gray-tan-oyster dress at all. The color is insipid and the shape overwhelming.

Love the first cardigan though. The last dress is hard to see since it's black though.

I love the middle dress when its worn Audi-style with the black, but agree with others that its too overwhelming alone. Love the cardie though. Can't really see the black dress so withholding comments

4 and 5 are my faves, but I'm not fond of the dress on it's own...assymetry is difficult to my eye....FWIW! The boots look fun

I want to thank Una for introducing me to the phrase 'post-apocalyptic hipster'!!! I would never have thought of myself in those terms, but since I love the cardi I guess that's what I am.
I like white Docs - Angie's are taller and I think shorter ones are harder to style? Have you tried them with pale tights (maybe patterned?), or paler pants? I actually think they look better on your bare legs than over the pants in pic #2, but you probably need a fairly high hemline to make the most of that look.
Could you update us and let us know what you decide?

I agree with Angie - the 2 darker pieces are badass but the tan is a really hard colour to wear. You might need a tan with a more yellow cast rather than a grey cast. I do like it with the cardi but it's not versatile enough to wear on it's own.

I really love look 2 - go the white docs!

I really like asymmetry in clothing, and think that the cardigan is spunky and fun. The tan dress on its own cries out for something - a belt, I think, either an obi style or a super thin pop of color, but I adore it styled with the black cardi in photo #5. That look is edgy and powerful to my eye. The high-standing shawl collar frames your neck and lower face beautifully!

Being a fan of all things "post-apocalyptic hipster style" these pieces make me swoon! LOVE them all - but I think you may be limited in what you can do with the osyter colored dress. Its pretty overwhelming - I bet you could find something from All Saints that might work better for you. I think the black tights and boots work best - as opposed with the white Docs - although I love them too - just not with these outfits. Thanks for posting!

My hat off to you for being sartorially adventurous. I am not, (even though I want to be!) so the only item in the lot that I like is the black dress.

Thank you all for your insightful, honest comments! I know this style is not everyone's cup of tea, so I appreciate your help.

I will be keeping the asymmetrical cardi and the black dress and returning the tan (it's actually greige with navy blue stripes) dress. I think you guys nailed it -- it looks best reined in (look #5), but to only wear it like that would be limiting. So back it goes.

glam: Yes, Angie's are taller. I like the taller Docs but they are too tall on me, alas. So I got a great deal on the shorter white ones and am trying to make them work. Interesting comment about bare legs -- I'll try them with lighter bottoms and bare legs!
