Stolen by UPS - YouLookFab Forum

Hey ladies,

I just need to vent. I'd ordered a pair of BF jeans from Nordies that were supposed to arrive on Thursday that never did. After some investigation it appears that they were "released" to someone without delivery and without anyone signing for them at our local UPS headquarters--I have a feeling they were taken by an employee since you cannot stop by our UPS and pick up packages.

Nordstroms is great and refunded the money (after spending 35 minutes on the phone) but I'm irritated because they are sold out in my size and I'm not having luck finding them elsewhere (esp. not with free shipping and returns).

Nordstrom also accidentally sent me an $18 gift card for a return I didn't make and they can't figure out who made it, but want me to pay my own postage to send the thing back.

Plus, another seller I used recently keeps sending me receipts for an old purchase.

Oh no! I've always heard such good things about Nordstrom's customer service, I'm sorry they're making things so frustrating! The gift card thing seems especially ridiculous. Why don't they just void out the number?

Oh no. That truly stinks. And I agree with Jenn on the card--for $18 they should just give it to you, especially after your recent frustration with the missing jeans.

Hopefully you can find some other ones...I hate waiting so I'd want to see what else is out there.

Gosh. Nordstroms should just let you keep the gift card since you're being so honest. As for the UPS, my delivery guy is usually the best but I had an order go missing from Zara in the spring. Zara were awful to deal with. I am sure somebody at UPS did the deed. I eventually got a refund from Zara but not without a lot of complaining.

That sounds horrible. Nordstrom should really let you keep and use that gift certificate for all your recent woes. And what will they do if you don't send it back? Nothing.....right? You could just use it....but you told them it was a mistake and were honest. If they can't cancel the number from their end, I see no reason why you should spend a single penny to send it back to them. Apparently, they don't care about those $18!

I also think UPS shouldn't get away with this. How can they condone an employee stealing stuff?! With CC TV everywhere these days, how could they have no clue where the package went? I would expect better standard from them, considering they handle so many packages everyday.....they aren't supposed to 'release' things to anyone (if they stick to their story).

I really feel for you. It's very frustrating that you can't find the jeans in your size anymore

Update and clarification:

I was finally able to find the jeans somewhere else. We will see if they get here, but I was frustrated because I've been waiting for them for 2 weeks and now have to wait again.

I was pleased that Nordstrom's customer service was willing to refund the money without making me jump through tons of hoops like other retailers sometimes do. However, my rep was extremely slow today, which didn't help with the frustration. I have no idea what is up with the gift card-- I called because I hoped they would be able to figure out who it really belonged to, but no dice. I can't believe they want me to pay (extra postage) and mail it back to them. Amazon did something similar once and I got to keep the item even though it was far pricier than $18.

I'm really irritated with UPS. We have a long history of mail being stolen by postal employees at our local post office, but I've never had issues with this before.

Very weird about the gift card...why can't they just cancel that number if they aren't willing to give it to you? Why would you have to mail back the actual card?

I had a FedEx package mis-delivered show up after a month and a half. It was delivered one street over and that person just sat on it that long. When she finally brought it over she said "I just thought Fed Ex would come back for it"...despite the fact that no one is home during the day, she didn't leave it out for them, and she didn't contact FedEx to even let them know! Needless to say, I do not have kind thoughts towards her!! That is slightly better than I first thought, that someone decided to steal it...but why would you keep a package that long and do nothing about it?!

People are strange. Maybe yours will show up at some future date. I'm sorry for the hassle you've had though.

I would call back Nordstrom and talk with another customer ER service rep. Or even a supervisor and complain about having to pay postage on the gift card. That's just wrong. See what they do.

Oh no! Sorry for all of the time you've spent on this. My first thought was that they want you to keep the card without saying so. That's why they didn't provide postage. Just letting the problem go away with a do nothing strategy. Or is this completely different from your impression Elly?

CocoLion-- I'm not sure. I was mostly concerned about another customer missing it. My customer service rep. was super sweet but very spacey and never offered to do anything special for me for my trouble-- I believe the work "like" was used multiple times in describing how I could mail it back to the address on the receipt. Honestly, I wouldn't have had qualms about using it, but don't want to cause trouble. It was odd because it had my name inside the envelope.

Elly----the envelope has your name inside????? Nordstrom has, in all likeliness, written this money off.....and it's just $18! Of course you are NOT going to pay from your pocket to have this card returned.....if they made an error by sending you someone's card, they should fix it and cancel the card. I am guessing that 'someone' must've called about missing returns card and gotten another one.

I really think you should just go ahead and use this card. It has YOUR name. So I highly doubt the staff at Nordstrom is going to figure out who's card they sent to you by mistake....

Elly, is it possible that the card was for a price adjustment of some kind? I think it's strange that your name would be inside the envelope if it was someone else's card. Maybe it would be worth calling Nordstrom again, to get a different rep, and ask about just canceling out the card number. Maybe a different rep would just tell you to keep the card, or maybe she can check to see if there is a valid reason why you got it. (Was a return that you made in the past not credited correctly?)

I'm sorry about the jeans. I know how much of a downer it is to find out that a package you've been dying to get has been stolen. I once ordered a bunch of stuff from Victoria's Secret, and the package never arrived. VS was great and sent me another package, but it's disheartening. Especially if your size has sold out in the meantime!

I think you should call the stores and confirm your accounts. Make sure there's no one else using your credit or address. It raises a flag that another retailer is sending you receipts. Could be coincidence, but worth checking out.
