My spring wish list is fairly extensive, however, it mostly consists of tops and dresses! I found a Lafayette NY shirt dress in a color that I like, but after trying it on, I am unsure of the style? I have never owned a shirt dress before. What do you think?

Sheath dresses are pretty much my staple. Straight, simple and figure skimming. I tried one from WHBM that has a matching jacket that fits ok. What do you think? Is this too frumpy when I wear it with the blazer? (The dress has a low scooped back that I didn't photograph) I have been hunting for a blazer, but I am not sure how versatile one would be in pale blush pink?

I was attracted to the Vince Camuto midi sheath dress because of the print. I was least certain of this dress when I ordered it, but I think I like it. Is the print too bold for me?

The shoes I am wearing are silver Stuart Weitzman sandals. Sorry if things look wrinkled. Everything has tags, and this is really just to see if shapes, fit and colors are ok, etc.

You wear it so well!
After I am able to crawl back onto my chair, I can consider the others. Number one is my next favorite. Simple, easy, and lively color. I can see it paired with a navy topper.
I like number 2 better on its own than with the jacket. Worn with the jacket it would need a statement accessory.

That was my immediate reaction too -- love #4 on you. NOT too bold at all, just very elegant and room-commanding in the best way. And #1 next, but maybe without the sash? I like the deeper colors on you rather than an all-blush-out.

Agree- #4 is stellar. Love the vibrant pattern! I love #1 as well; would love to see it with a wide leather belt perhaps?

Number 4 is Vince Camuto, I bought it online from Nordstrom a month or two ago, maybe it was even on sale? I don't remember. I have gone back and forth on whether to keep it. I am not used to seeing myself in prints like this. I thought maybe it was too distracting, but it seems maybe not. I'm glad, because it's a comfortable dress, and I know the fit is excellent.

The light pink dress is one that I purchased when shopping with a friend. I typically regret shopping with my friend, but she begs to go shopping with me. She loved this dress on me and convinced me to purchase it. I was hesitant, but she pushed hard. I still have the receipt. I can return it. Should I?

Wow, it's so interesting how this dress, which is a blue and white print is coming out as a favorite. I have a blue and white print tee that is also one of my personal favorites. I wonder if it is a color combination that is good as well as the cut of the dress?

I love 2 - 4, and if Angie says 1, you should take her word for it. (It may be I find the earrings and shoes so much fancier than the shirt dress.)

#4 all the way. Stunning. I think the medium tones of the blue add just the right amount of depth, the pattern feels very current and luxe, and the fit is fabulous. I can't say enough about this look on you. I think I prefer you in looks that have strength and femininity. Soft on its own feels too understated. FWIW.

If you're having doubts about the pink one, then that's your answer. It's lovely, but if you don't think it will work for you, then take it back.

1 and 4! While the fit on 2 is great, I feel that the colour (or lack of) has a tendency to wash you out - it just can't compete with 1 and 4.

More love for #4 as the clear winner. 2/3 is something I would like to have in my dress collection for weddings, etc, when a LBD won't work, but that may make it too matronly for you.

#4 is stunning on you! Good grief, it fits that way right off the rack? You have to keep it! #1 is my next fav. The pink dress is beautiful on you, but it "pales" in comparison (pun intended!) to #4 and #1.

Number four is the best, I like the pink sheath without the jacket, and number one is OK but I'm not sure about the hemline. Keep four, for sure.

And number four reminds me of a blue poppy print dress the Duchess of Cambridge wore last year. Brooks Brothers is featuring a dress, skirt, and cardi in a similar print.

I love wearing dresses and try to wear them as much as possible when the weather is nice. I would wear these for work and probably also out to local stage productions. I could see the blue dress on Friday girls night out, or date night with DH.

I think maybe Sveta needs one, too. She is tall so it will work on her. Unless they make it in petite it would likely be too long on me so I am safe for now.

Love the colour of #1 and think it is beautiful. I would probably opt for a different belt or no belt and scrunch the sleeves.

I like #2 the best and the only reason for not adding others is that you look so good in a simple sheath. You really wear it well, and you will look glammed up or have a simple work look, depending on what attitude you choose to bring it. Lovely choices!

I think that all of these look really good on you, especially 4.

As for the style of the shirt dress, that is such a personal thing. I view shirt dresses as one of the most casual styles of dress, and a little androgynous as well. If these fit your style descriptors, then the shirt dress might be something worth trying out. Sometimes the only way to know if a new style of garment is going to work for us is by taking it for a test drive.

I like the pink dress too, with and without the blazer. I don't think the blazer makes it look frumpy, but it does make it look very business-y. I think the dress without the blazer would be very versatile. (I saw this in the WHBM catalog last week and love the color!)

As for 4, if you are concerned about the print being too bold, maybe you could just be sure to wear a little extra eye makeup to make sure that your features stand out? I find that when I wear colors or patterns that are a little "too much" for me, adding a little extra eye definition or wearing a stronger lip color can help my features be on par with the boldness of the item.

Gigi, great suggestion to increase the "boldness" of my make-up when wearing a bolder pattern. I agree the pink one looks more business-y. I thought that with the blazer I could wear it to religious services and fit right in. It would be a change from my typical wrap dress, or dress and cardigan.

Suz, the blue pattern dress was both inexpensive and on sale. I know you have significant budget constraints this year, I have confidence you will find great items like this for your closet!

I'm thinking of ordering a wide belt. I used to have one when I was in my 20's. I have no clue what happened to it. I wonder how that would look with the shirt dress?

You have a great figure for dresses Staysfit. Belted shirt dresses, sheath and shift dresses suit the slim and the petite especially and you are no exception. I like all these looks very much today. The blue and the green have vibrancy and work so well and the shape of the pink dress is beautiful in its simplicity. May I suggest adding a statement necklace of some description and a moderately bold lip just to add a touch of vibrancy to this outfit too. The jacket fits well and I do wonder how it looks open because it could pair well with some of your lighter weight pants and jeans as well I imagine.
