These thoughts are random but I wanted to share them because I actually have a bit of time for a change. Interesting or inane, I will keep it to the point:

  • It’s really hard to find fabulous jeans that aren’t heavily distressed and ripped. It's complete overkill. The industry needs to move on.
  • It’s FABULOUS to see a large variety of neutrals this year. Earth tones are back with a vengeance. There’s also lots of dark blue and shades of white. Heaven for us all.
  • I slather myself in SPF 45, reapply during the day, wear a hat when I walk Sam most days, and STILL tan. I haven’t looked so tanned since our wedding day 20 years ago. (I forgot that despite my pale skin, I do actually tan).
  • Wool gilets are perfect for a Seattle climate. I wear my new ink blue gilet a lot. Love it. Get a gilet if you live in a moderate climate or have very mild Winters.
  • US chain store merchandise and department store house brands are running a size big fairly frequently these days. I’m sizing lots of clients down, despite them being the same size.
  • I LOVE the flirty, dandy, pretty and more girly merchandise that’s popping up everywhere. I'm enjoying Maximalism too. We needed the change. Wooohoooo!
  • Why do coat and jacket sleeves run narrow? It’s a common fit problem with clients of all sizes and body types.
  • I rarely see heels on the street, unless they are comfy boots. People that work in offices wear heels, and people wear heels when they go out at night - but other than that, the heels are hiding.
  • I just came back from a fabulous holiday in LA - (I LOVE LA, btw) - and people there generally wear more revealing clothing. I guess because of the hotter weather. 99% of the people on the street wear flats (sneakers, ballet flats, loafers, sandals and flip flops). Again, I don’t know where the heels are hiding! Lots of bare midriffs and lots of men in tanks. All body types and ages wear short shorts, which is the same in Seattle, actually.
  • Dress silhouettes are still generally too short. Fine for casual or date night, but not for the office.
  • Fashion silhouettes are changing big time: wider on the bottom, shorter and more fitted on top. Body con is waning. Skinnies are a complete classic. Waist definition is back, and I think traditionally flattering proportions are making a comeback too.
Over and out. Enjoy the weekend. I am off to snuggle with Sam. xo
