So...bored...

I was all set to post about how I've been so bored with clothes recently, and then I was aimlessly flipping channels and saw a cute pair of sandals at QVC in rose quartz, a HEWI for me. Went for a quick walk to ponder since it was more of a want than a need, and my size was sold out when I got back to the house. Uuuuuugh.

It's not like I *need* anything; I haven't had any special events and my everyday wardrobe is pretty cohesive and fitting my needs. I like most everything I have, it's just that I'm bored and there's almost nothing I want to buy in shops right now. It seems like there are two big trends being sold, summery boho/coachella and 90s revival, neither of which resonate with me aesthetically. Literally the only things I've bought since March have been gear: walking sneakers, athletic socks, and a new Fitbit. Sigh.

That sounds really frustrating, Laura.

Have you tried wearing things in some new combinations, maybe? Or maybe a few new accessories would spice things up? Or a change in hairstyle? (Pleads guilty...)

When I horribly bored but have enough stuff, I play with making capsules or turn to Random Outfit Generator (ROG) that Greg developed. I put a variety of current season pieces from my wardrobe in Finds; using the actual outfit from a retail site when I can, taking photos to make a custom find or using items already in Finds that are very similar, adding in the Notes section what item in my closet is being represented. ROG's outfits can be amusing, creative, and even practical. Sometimes I substitute a similar seasonal item when ROG picks a puffer coat in July or sandals in January. ( Gold loafers might stand in for gold sandals. A black cardi may replace that black puffer for a topper.)
Maybe it is time for a YLF challenge. You could challenge yourself to do something differently like wear dresses and skirts for a week, wear everything green in your closet, etc.

I had a phase like that last winter, just not interested in what was available, and with little budget.

And some seasons the appeal is just not there.....

My only suggestion is to save your money for something that will really excite you - a trip away, something new for the house, a nightclass, new makeup....save up to visit NZ

I can sympathize totally. I don't need anything but I want something new and fresh! I think I'm just kind of bored of my work clothes--not enough weekends for fun clothes. I've been browsing the ensembles and trying to put different outfits together with what I have in my closet. Perhaps that will help alleviate your boredom too?

I haven't gotten a real bug in my head yet this year either. I feel I usually do. Some theme to toy with. Should probably stop looking to magazines and the runway...Funny, tho, was looking thru old clippings: much more inspiration there.

Oh no, (hugs) I felt exactly like this a while back. I just tried some new eye shadow make up to perk me up and tried a new to me silhouette...jogger type pants. I sew, so to some extent I can bypass the way the shops are full of certain styles, but it was a seasonal thing with me to some extent...our weather is still not behaving. Yesterday warm sun and today really chilly. I want to wear my Spring/Summer stuff. I agree with others who've said try some new combos of what you have...or why not try a really unusual new accessory?

Oh, I know all about the doldrums. My solution is usually to shop for my child instead -- he goes through socks and tshirts like they're disposable. And kids clothes are so cute.

Either that, or I shift my attention to housewares for a while. Revamping a room often leads to wardrobe inspiration: I bought a set of linen curtains last year that lead me down a total linen rabbit hole. Pants, tops, apron, etc.

I agree that taking a step away from the magazines and blogs and runways is usually a very *good* way to get new ideas, especially once the new season doesn't feel so new anymore (I'm already feeling some SS16 fatigue and it hasn't even gotten warm here yet!).
