Some good, in college people, students and teachers alike, are far more open to considering my point of view and my overly researched rambling than when I was in school in Mass. I've made friends here and even my fandom based quirks seem normal because I'm not loving these things alone.
There are not so good things too. I worked at Walmart in both states, and I never got spoken down
to
or openly insulted while working nearly as much in Mass, even while performing my job the way they requested. Like my uniform invalidated me as a person. Or the extra giant, easily bruised egos on my boyfriends friends. One of them said, quite comfortably, that I was a "Frigid, sexually repressed nun that probably moaned every time someone bumped into me." because I didn't want to have sex with him.
