I was debating some shorts for summer. Olive green cargo military look ones. And the shiny metallic, dressy shorts I'd never found. A thought popped into my head about my wardrobe overall. That if I bought the shiny, dressy shorts I would be doing something new, and different. A dressy short. If I do the olive, I'd be continuing with a tried and true look - casual shorts.
I got to thinking about how sometimes we find a silhouette or style we like and then duplicate it in myriad ways, through varying colors mainly. But when others see us they likely see, for instance, "slouchy jean with heeled sandal", not dark wash slouchy, light wash slouchy, medium wash slightly less slouchy, etc. I think we get caught up in our own subtle variations on a theme but the basic outfit is not much changed to the casual observer.
So, will olive shorts change my look much overall? Not much. Will silver shiny shorts? Much more likely. Guess which I am going to go for!
