Slippery heel sole on Aquatalia boot

Hi there, I read several discussions about solving the slippery sole problem on boots but couldon't find anything on a slippery heel sole. I picked up a pair of Aquatalia boots (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/aq.....ve/3994632) for a steal at $74 (!) which was exactly what I was looking for and fit close to perfect - a miracle because I am only 5 ft and pretty petite which makes finding high boots a real challenge. Anyone ever have a problem with Aquatalia boot soles? Is there a good fix for the the heel sole portion of it?

Hi Rusberri,

Those heels do look like they could be slippery so I see why you are concerned. You could try scuffing the sole with sand paper to see if that helps. If that doesn't do the trick try taking it to a cobbler and having grips added to the heel.

I have these boots and have not found them slippery, and I am a klutz. They are fairly grippy on normal floors/sidewalks...hard to see in the photo. The soles are not smooth on my boots, rather rubbery instead. I have not had a chance to wear them in bad weather, however....hardly any snow here this year so far.

You could take them to a cobbler. It's a simple, cheap fix to add grips. I have done that for other shoes.

P.S....wow, great price. They are beautiful boots for us shorties with thin calves. I will enjoy mine for years.

I have taken a couple of pairs of slippery soled boots to the cobbler -- they can add a non-slip surface to the sole or the heel or both. As a klutz who has broken a wrist from a slip and fall, this is very important to me!

I also recommend taking them to a cobbler to have grips added. Sometimes if it's particularly slick, I'll actually just have them replace the whole heel plate with a rubber lug-style plate (which has better traction and is longer lasting).

Slippery heels as in your heel slips when you wear them? Or as in you are worried that the soles won't grip the pavement?

Thanks for the suggestions- I'll bring them to a cobbler to get grips added on.

Wow, those are absolutely beautiful and I hope you get them to grip properly. I wish I had known that they work for shorter calves. This is an issue for me, also, and this type of boot is exactly what I want. Sigh...

My Frye boots were very slippery to the point of dangerous. I was able to purchase some grips at the local Aldo's and that has done the trick.

Wow, beautiful! I had this problem before too and just took it to a cobbler. It was an inexpensive fix.

Where did you find them for such a great price?

The day after this thread, I wore my Rag & Bone Newbury booties out in the rain. All was fine until I was walking through a store -- my heel slipped and down I went! Fortunately, the only part of me hurt was my ego.

I ended up scuffing the heel on concrete pavement and it worked! It didn't affect the look of the boot and didn't cost anything! Realized it's most slippery on the newly waxed floors at work and fine on everything else.

MrsK-I found thme at Nordstrom rack! Was my best shopping steal this winter
