Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Skirt Opinion

I need a quick opinion on this skirt...Does it work with one or both of these tops? I'm trying to decide whether I should keep it or look for something different. (In case it's not clear from the pics, it's a slightly full a-line with diagonal stripes.) Thanks!

I realize you didn't ask this question, but I'll still weigh in about it: I think this skirt is a bit too long. It would be more stylish if it was shorter.
Color wise I think the second top works nicely, but I find the skirt itself pretty formal, and think the top would look nicer with a skirt that is a little less formal (I think it's the combination of fabric and the formal stripes that makes it so.)
Would you consider a shorter A-line skirt in a less formal fabric? A navy one would look great with that second top. I'm less sure about the first top with navy.

I'm not really feeling the skirt. I agree w/Antje that it's a bit too long.

But I love you hair !

Antje, I wasn't sure about the length so you're spot on in confirming that. Even a couple inches shorter, but it just hits at a weird place. That's all I needed to hear. I'll keep my eyes open for something a little shorter. Thanks for the navy suggestion for the second top. What about burgandy for the first top? I'd like it to be formal enough to wear out for evening concerts.

Thanks for the compliment, Nicole!

Agree with the above comments. Could you just get it hemmed? It has a nice drape to it.

I actually already took the skirt back this evening (today was the last day on returning) - I sorta thought about hemming it (I sew), but that material would've been a pain to mess with.

You are gorgeous Hannah! But your fabulous bod is wasted in that skirt. It does not fit and it’s far too long. Mid calf skirts can work, but they need to be funky. You’d look extremely elegant in a knee length pencil skirt. I feel like dressing you up right this second!

Thank you Angie. I'm not sure if I'm a pencil skirt person...they always seem too "huggy" and restricting, which I find personally defeats the purpose of wearing a skirt. But I think I have a better idea of what to look for now.

I hear you, Hannah. I too, feel restricted in pencil skirts even thought they look good. I therefore leave them for special occasions to wear along with my sitting shoes. A-line skirts with vertical seaming do not disappoint. Hope you find a fab skirt!

I actually feel more comfortable in a straight skirt that stops just above the knee than one with excess fabric. I feel like the excess fabric hinders me. As Angie says...horses for courses!

Interesting Nicole. I have clients that feel the same way as you. I’m humbled to have been quoted (*smiling*)

Pencil skirts don't need to be restrictive. I have two stretchy ones, one in a soft stretchy denim like fabric, and one in a thin stretchy cotton fabric in animal print from Express. I find them both super comfortable and not restrictive in the slightest. Huggy, yes, but I agree with previous comments that you sure can flaunt this :-)
