A few years ago I developed a weird sensitivity to fabrics such as wool, polyester, and even cashmere and some cottons. I just could not wear them. Did I see a dermatologist? No, of course not. I just avoided the fabrics that irritated my skin.

I very recently saw a doctor and she diagnosed my condition as dry skin. Odd, since I have very oily skin. I don't exactly understand how I can have oily skin and dry skin simultaneously, but I must.

She recommended a single lotion: AmLactin 12 % Moisturizing Lotion. It took a full two weeks, but my skin has never been more "calm." It feels wonderful to the touch, but more importantly, I am less sensitive to ALL fabrics. I no longer have any irritation. (Although I have no desire to test wool on my body ever again). But I can no longer claim a fabric irritation.

Note. I do have one dime-size area of what I term "eczema." The lotion does not help or hurt that area. Vaseline is the only solution for that patch and I have to use Vaseline at least every third day during the winter.

I started out using the AmLactin 12 % Moisturizing Lotion every single evening. Now I am using it about twice a week. It is relatively heavy and some people might not like it. I tried it on my face once. Heavy, but no breakouts.

I am now questioning all the lotions I have used in the past. They all "seemed" to be so good .... but in terms of results they did nothing for me. I am going to use them all up, but I won't be buying them again.

I still don't exactly understand what is going on with my skin, but I did find a solution that works for me.
