Simple white watch wanted

I would like to get a white watch...and would love some input. I would like an acrylic (ceramic? too $$?) watch, not too blinged out...and somewhat easy to read. I am after the style more than the status (so this doesn't have to be an 'investment' piece for me).

I would honestly look in department stores for $20 versions. I know I have seen some here but they are southern chains - Belk's and Beall's. I have seen numerous ones at Beall's Outlet (one of my favorite stores in the whole world). They must have similar copycats in your area too!

Check out Target, if you just want style. I got a knockoff of the Fossil one for about $20. (It is sort of wierd that some of the extra dials are fake; I didn't notice till I got home!) Mine is out of stock, but there are others. I like seeing them in person as I like to see how they look on my wrist....

It's "silicone wrapped" - um, rubber? So at least it wouldn't break? I love that it has all the numbers on the face and the date, etc. The price...well...

have you tried your 'favourite' on, MJP?. The black ring will look fab with your BF blazer. I think seeing these on your wrist will make a big difference - even just the tone of white on your skin tone, and the depth of the face etc. could be deciders for you.

I am personally covetting the MK blingy version you posted :).

I usually start my coveting with a good dose of online window shopping so no, haven't tried any on. That's next! The black rim, is sharp, isn't it?

Have you actually tried them in a department store? No need to buy, but you will be surprised at how much a tiny difference in bracelet or crown size makes a huge difference on your arms. I tried the silicone ones and personally I didn't like how it made the watch sit on my wrist. Would have never guessed from online pics!

What do people think about this Armitron watch?

I like the retro feel of the face (with the easy to read numbers) and the white border...I also thought perhaps I should be looking at a slightly dressier white watch so that I could wear it when I teach Sunday school. (Being able to subtly check the time will help me pace the class appropriately.)

I like the price...does anyone know anything about the brand? I want a good basic watch that actually keeps time and doesn't break after one month's use.

I got my white watch from Sears. It's a Relic brand. I'm very happy with it. It's was less than $50.

MPJ, be sure to try on the Armitron first. I've got a similarly shaped white watch and the face turned out to be huge on my arm, covering the whole arm and then some. It looks odd with the narrower band to my eye. This from someone who likes big bold watches. I wish this one were smaller faced. It's never gotten a positive comment like my other large watches.

Where ever I end up buying it from or ordering it from, I'll make sure it's returnable!

Good points about the watch face size. I am usually drawn to the bigger watches, but then thought...perhaps that looks out of place with a fancier dress. Of course, I can check the time on my cell phone, but that's not very subtle, and I feel it's a bit intrustive, really, particularly for Sunday school.
