I've noticed a lot of forum members agonize of purchases. Buy many things and return them because of X, Y and Z. Or they visit something in a store many times. Some mention that they do not shop in smaller boutiques because they often have limited or no return policy.
I wonder if this has to do with how you grew up.
I grew up in a smallish town in a rural area. The best shopping was 1 1/2 hours away. We would not go often. But when we did shop, I had to make a decision right then and there. There was no returning or even coming back to visit it again.
Even in college (two degrees in two different places) I was in smaller towns in very rural areas. I would save my shopping for trips to big city. Again no returns or re-visits.
Now I'm in a big city, the hassle of returning stuff by internet with my schedule makes me not want to order in the first. If I do order I rarely return unless the fit is completely impossible.
I prefer shopping in smaller, independent boutiques because I can find interesting, unique items. I make a decision right then and there if I like something. Even when I shop in the big retail stores, I still rarely return.
